Chapter 674
Every move he made just screamed elegance and confidence.
Kenneth was sprawled out on the sofa behind him, rocking a sharp gray shirt and looking completely at ease as he casually flipped a dart between his fingers.
“So, what did you buy this time to impress my grandpa?” Kenneth shot Anthony a sideways glance, a crooked smile playing on his lips. “My grandpa’s been around forever. He’s seen it all. A random little gift isn’t going to win him over.”
Anthony took a slow drag from his cigarette, leaning back against the window. He let out a lazy stream of smoke, the corners of his mouth twitching up. “Yeah, he’s not exactly easy to please.”
Kenneth arched an eyebrow, like he was daring Anthony to try him. “But if you’re willing to beg… maybe I’ll put in a good word for you. I actually have a bit of status in this family, you know.”
“Status?” Anthony let out a dry laugh, his tone merciless. “Sorry, I must have missed the memo.”
Kenneth shot him a look, setting down the dart, ready to argue back.
That’s when Samantha came in, tugging Charlotte along with her.
When Kenneth saw Charlotte in that red dress, he literally froze. He already knew she was stunning-she could throw on anything and still turn heads. But tonight, in that red gown, she was on a whole different level. Beautiful enough to make him forget how to breathe.
Anthony heard the commotion and turned around, too. The second he saw
Charlotte, he just stood there, caught off guard. For a moment, he seemed lost, then a small smile crept onto his lips, his dark eyes suddenly unreadable.
“You two
Samantha glanced at the distance between them, scratching her head in awkward confusion.
They looked way too normal. Suspiciously normal.
That can’t be right. No way.
Totally an act. It had to be.
“Mom, why are you out of breath?” Kenneth asked, looking genuinely confused.
Samantha looked a little disappointed. “It’s nothing, really.”
Charlotte almost burst out laughing. She wanted so badly to tell them that Samantha had come down to catch them red-handed.
“Samantha.”
Anthony quickly stubbed out his cigarette, cracked open a window, and walked over to greet them, bowing his head politely.
“Anthony, you don’t have to be so formal.”
Samantha sized him up with a
respectful, not a hint of arrogant
approving smile. He was polite,
pretty much her dream son-in-law, if arty he werent well, aman
“Anthony, there’s still half an hour before the party starts. Make yourself at home,” she said, then turned to Charlotte, her voice dropping to a whisper. You stay here and keep an eye on them Watch them closely.”
Too normal definitely meant something was off.
Okay.”
Charlotte nodded, totally serious.
Samantha shot Kenneth a meaningful look before heading out of the room.
“What’s up with my mom today?”
།
Kenneth flopped back onto the sofa, propped his legs on the coffee table, and took a sip of coffee. “Lottie,
what did she just say Lottie,
you?”
Charlotte lifted her pretty eyes, paused for a second, and answered honestly, “She
asked me to stay here and watch you guys.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Kenneth looked completely lost.
Anthony’s gaze locked onto Charlotte, his dark eyes narrowing just a bit.
“She wants me to catch you two doing something you shouldn’t.”
Kenneth choked and spit out his coffee.
