Chapter : 935
Judy’s POV
Daisy stood at the end of the altar like a deer in the headlights. Her eyes darted around the space, a nervous expression clear on her face. She wore a simple black dress, nothing too showy, which was surprising for Daisy.
My eyes darted to Gavin’s mother, who just stared at Daisy, her expression blank. I wondered what was going through her head at this moment. Daisy was once very close to her, but then she betrayed her and the family. I wasn’t sure if she could redeem herself for that, even if it were because Noah was toying with her through a mate bond she didn’t even want.
“My almost wife just asked you a question,” Gavin said, his voice bellowing across the courtyard.
It was so quiet that a pin could be heard if it fell.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt,” she said, her eyes finding mine. “I’ve only come to show my support.”
I raised my brows, confused by her words.
“You’re support?” I asked, not sure I heard her correctly.
“Yes…” she said softly. “And to apologize for all I’ve done. I know I’ve said it before… but it wasn’t what I wanted. I hope we can start over and maybe even be friends one day.”
I looked at Gavin, but he looked unconvinced.
“Why do you suddenly want to be friends? I thought you were leaving town and starting over somewhere fresh,” he said, folding his arms across his chest.
She swallowed, her throat working overtime.
“Because this had always been my home,” she said, tears filling her eyes. “I don’t want to leave my home. I don’t have anywhere else to go.”
Gavin was about to speak, and I knew what he was going to say. He didn’t trust Daisy, and he didn’t want her anywhere near our pack. But I put my hand on his shoulder, drawing his attention to me and claiming him slightly.
“She’s pack,” I told him, my eyes finding his. “Maybe we should start fresh and have some compassion on our wedding day?
He frowned.
“After everything she’s done?” He asked, his eyes narrowing. “Why would you want her here?”
“Because she didn’t feel like she had a choice,” I told him. “And now she’s choosing.”
Gavin stared at me for a moment longer, and then his expression softened.
“This is why I’m marrying you,” he said, a small smile lifting the corner of his lips.
I laugh.
“Why?” I asked, stepping closer to him and staying in his space.
“Because your heart is pure and you are going to be an excellent Luna,” he told me, leaning down and brushing his lips across mine.
The priest cleared his throat, reminding us that we were still in the middle of our wedding.
“We aren’t at that part,” the priest
teased earning chuckles from the audience couldn’t help but chuckle as I stepped away from Gavin.
“Fine,” Gavin finally said, turning to Daisy. “Take a seat, Daisy. We’ll discuss where
this leaves you later.”
Daisy looked relieved, though it was
only slightly. I could still see the
worry behind her eyes, and it made
me feel bad for her. She took a seat in the back row and kept her head down for most of the time.
But I was no longer paying attention to her or anyone else besides Gavin, who stood right in front of me.
“Gavin…” I started again. “I never saw myself as someone who would become a Luna…or the mate with the most powerful Lycan chairmen. I saw myself as someone who would do anything to protect my family and loved ones. I wanted to be a gamma I and protect my pack. But things have obviously changed… I’m now about to be a Luna… and I am a mother. I thought it meant living up to my dreams, but I realize now more than anything that it only means my dreams have expanded. It includes you now… and it includes your family, because now they are my family, and I’m determined to protect them with everything I have inside me. I love you, and I love the world you’ve built. I love that you’re including me in this world and that you are my rock. I’m proud of the man you’ve become, and I’m proud of the fact that we get to live this dream together. It’s not just my dream anymore… It’s ours. I might not be a gamma, but now I can protect our pack and then some. You don’t realize it… But you made
my dreams come true, and for that, I’ll be forever grateful.”
