Chapter : 924
Irene screamed, drawing our attention to her. The glow that had once surrounded her was so bright it was hard to look at her, but now it was shooting from her body toward Chuck.
This time, I knew it was painful because of how badly she was screaming.
It seemed painful for both of them because he was screaming as well.
It was over as quickly as it began, though; the second it ended, Irene collapsed to the ground in one heap, and Nan rushed to aid her.
I let out a breath as the tingling sensation left my body, and the glow seemed to have stopped. Chuck lay on the ground, unconscious, and the room was filled with an eerie, confused silence.
“That was something,” Cora finally said, breaking the silence.
“I should get him back,” Taylor murmured, clearing his throat. “I need to contact Alpha Jeremy about payments for him, and I’m sure Gavin has some questions of his own.”
I nodded, knowing he was most likely right.
“Are you going to be okay?” I asked.
He nodded.
“Yeah, I should be fine,” he told me. “No need to worry. I’ll let Gavin know that it worked and everything should be back to normal.”
“We don’t exactly know if it worked,” Nan said, standing to her feet. “Irene passed out.”
“It worked,” I assured her. “I can feel it.”
Nan didn’t look too sure, but she nodded.
Taylor worked to get Chuck out of the mansion while he was still unconscious, and I went to Irene, who was starting to come through.
“Is she going to be okay?” Nan asked, worry evident in her voice.
“She will be fine,” Esme assured us. “She’ll be tired, but she just needs some rest.”
Just as soon as Taylor walked
outside with Chuck and towards his car, a new presence appeared at the doorway. I saw a panicked Erik
staring down at Irene. His wou nee

lose control if he didn’t get to her. soon enough. I probably should have told him to give Irene some space, but I could see that he needed his true mate, and I couldn’t blame him for that.
If it were Gavin, I know nothing could keep me from him.
I nodded at him as he looked at me, like he was asking for my permission.
I stood and stepped away, motioning for Nan to do the same. She frowned up at me, and then at Erik.
“Are you sure it’s a good idea?” She asked, uncertainty still in her tone.
“They are mates,” Cora said, matter-of-factly, as if she had known this all along. “He
won’t hurt her. Their wolves need each other.”
Nan nodded and then stood to her feet as well, joining me at a distance.

reaction when she saw that Erik was
by her side. I know he freaked Ker out these last few weeks, and she hadn’t wanted to see him. He’s been giving her space because of that. But now that the curse was officially broken and Erik was here with her, as her mate, I wondered if things would improve.
Erik had her wrapped in his arms and lifted her off the ground. She groaned softly, but she rested her head on his chest and nuzzled him slightly. I raised my brows as
it looked like they were cuddling. It was actually sweet to watch, even though she was barely awake.
But then her eyes opened slowly, and she looked up at Erik. He tensed when he tooked back down at her. Their eyes remained on one another for the longest time, and then she burst into tears as she wrapped herself around him and buried her face in his neck, shocking literally all of us.

I looked at Nan, who looked back at me, just as alarmed.
I went to say something, but then Irene’s words stopped me, and I knew at that
moment all was going to be okay again.
“Mate…” she whispered. “You truly are my mate.”
“And I am never letting you go,” Erik vowed before he pressed his lips to hers.
