Chapter : 903
Judy’s POV
The crowd seemed to be going in one direction. We followed them over to a large stage on the far side of the venue, and that’s when I saw Lila in the flesh, standing with a mic in hand and a smile spreading across her face.
She loved the attention; that much was clear.
“Thank you all for coming to my party,” Lila said into the mic. “I’m so honored to have all of this support. Following in my mother’s footsteps is all I truly wanted; she’s such an inspiration to all, and having her back me up and support me on this journey means everything.”
I sucked in sharp breath.
She had to be lying, right? There’s no way Selene would stand by and allow this to happen. She gave me Luna lessons and agreed to continue to do so until I’m confident enough to be a Luna on my own. She would have told me if Lila was planning on competing against me.
Wouldn’t she?
“Being a Luna means everything to me, and having your support is important. If you haven’t already, please see my brothers so you can donate to the Lila Blackwell Fund. It’ll truly help me better the future of the territory. Though my family is rich, I’d really love it if those who support me could contribute.”
My heart hammered in my chest; I looked up at Gavin, whose brows were pinched together. We watched as some members of the crowd approached Noah Blackwell, who held a small donation box.
They were taking money from people?
Lila reached up and touched her necklace, making my eyes widen for a moment. It looked like the Moon Gem, but I knew that it wasn’t real. I didn’t feel the same pull as I did with the real moon gem, and this one didn’t glow. This one barely made any movement as she ran her thumb across the delicate edges.
“And to prove that I only want what’s best for this pack, my brothers are presenting a check for 1 billion dollars to the Landry Foundation. Whatever money you donate will be returned to you tenfold and put
towards improving this entire
territory not just
the Silver Cresc
pack. I’m sure you are also
wondering why I chose this neutral
territory for this party.”
She motioned for Noah, who handed the donation bin to his younger brother, Emmet. Noah walked onto the stage with a pretty blonde by his side; she was curled up against him, and his arm was wrapped around her waist. She was smiling up at him as he took the mic from Lila, kissing her on the cheek like a doting brother.
I had to stifle an eye-roll because I knew it was all a show.
“I present to you the deed to this neutral territory,” Noah announced, pulling a piece of paper out of his coat pocket. Everyone, including me, gasped. “We are expanding the Landry territory, which means more homes and more pack members. We are willing to take in fogues as long as you show your support to my sister and vote for her to be the Luna of this territory.”
I looked up at Gavin; his jaw was tight, and I knew he was doing everything in his
power to keep himself and his wolf under control.
“He can’t do that, can he?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
“No,” Gavin said through his teeth. “He can’t.”
“Gavin Landry’s business is crumbling, and my father is doing everything he can to save it,” Noah continued. “With this added income of a new section of the territory, along with your support and donations, we can ensure that it remains running and properly. All of
this is because of my sister, Lila.
She’s already accomplished
much, and she’s not even
officially
the Luna yet. Imagine what she can
accomplish once that title is
officially hers?”
