I smiled up at him and leaned even further into him.

“It was good that she didn’t come then,” I said softly. “If they are in contact, it means that she’s still holding out hope that he will come back for her. He’s keeping her on a string, and she’ll do whatever he wants.”

I shuddered at the thought.

“Over my dead body,” Gavin said through his teeth. “I’m not letting that asshole have my daughter.”

“And that’s why I love you,” I said, kissing his cheek.

His brows furrowed as he looked down at me.

“Because I refuse to let Chuck win?” he asked.

I let out a soft laugh.

“No, because you’re an amazing man and an even more amazing father,” I replied.

He pressed his lips to mine, and I melted in the kiss.

“When this is over…once Irene’s curse is broken, and she can be free from this jerk, I want us to get married.”

I blinked at him.

“Our wedding is in a couple of months,” I reminded him.

He nodded and pulled me even closer to him, so I was practically sitting on his lap.

“Yes, but I want us to get married sooner,” he told me, pressing his lips to the side of my head. “I want to up the wedding.”

My heart stopped in my chest.

The thought of marrying him sooner sent a thrill through me, and I would be lying if I said my wolf wasn’t thrilled at the idea. But at the same time, I was still terrified of being a Luna for the largest and strongest pack in the world.

Olivia and her friends were still protesting me, and Lila was still out to get me. She’s flaunting her status as a Blackwell, even though she’s not technically a Blackwell.

“What’s wrong?” Gavin asked, his smile dropping slightly. “You do still want to get married, don’t you?”

“Of course, I do,” I said without hesitation, turning to face him fully so he knew how serious I was about this. “I want to marry you more than anything in this world…”

His expression softened as he tucked a strand of loose hair behind my ear.

“Good,” he said softly. “Are you worried about the protests and the media? If that’s the case, then don’t worry about them. I have it handled. Nobody is allowed to post reports about you anymore. I’m not going to let them belittle you like that again.”

“Thanks,” I said softly, feeling a little better knowing that I had him in my corner at least.

Just as he was about to say something else, the pilot went over the radio and told

us we were going to be landing soon. I buckled my seatbelt and sat straight as the plane started to descend.

belongings from the overhead compartment above our section. We packed this trip lightly because we

were only planning on staying here until tomorrow.

Alpha Jeremy already knew of this trip and what we intended to do. Because we explained the entire situation to him, he has agreed to help.

We were met by Alpha Jeremy when we reached the packhouse; he had sent his Beta to get us at the airport, and he took us straight to the packhouse, where we will be staying for the night.

“Alpha Landry,” Jeremy said, holding out his hand for Gavin to shake. “I was honestly surprised when you reached out to me this morning. I wasn’t expecting to see you again so soon.”

“I apologize for the intrusion,” said Gavin, releasing his hand. “But I’m sure you can understand the severity of this situation.”

Jermey nodded.

“I do,” Jeremy replied. “I must apologize as well. I had no idea Chuck put a Siren’s curse on your daughter. He’s always been one of my most valued gammas, which was why I nominated him forthe Gamma competition. It would be at shame for him to lose his life.”

“I’m not here to kill him. I wouldn’t take the life of one of your packmates. However, his actions cannot go unpunished. I explained to you already that he needs to return to my territory with me tonight for us to break the curse.”

“Yes,” Jeremy answered. “You mentioned that. Do what you must, and if punishment needs to take place, I’d like to be informed of it.”

“You have my word,” Gavin said with a nod.

“It won’t be easy to convince him to go with you,” Alpha Jeremy warned. “I’ll inform the warriors not to interfere because there’s a chance you may need to use force.”
