Chapter 1517
[ 622 words ]
“Do I need to explain myself to you?” Lorelei stepped forward, her gaze icy as it locked onto Lexi. Her tone was deceptively gentle, yet her presence was overwhelmingly commanding. “Lexi, I’m warning you. Stay away from my husband.”
“Exactly.” Felicia chimed in at the perfect moment, backing her up with a mocking sneer. “Is that how you were raised? Trying to steal someone else’s husband!”
“What did you just say?”
Lexi easily caught the underlying insult. Her face went pale with fury as she raised her hand, aiming a sharp slap right at Felicia’s face.
*Smack-*
Lorelei was faster. She grabbed her sister’s arm, flipped her wrist, and delivered a vicious backhand straight to Lexi’s cheek.
“Ah-“
Lexi stumbled back, barely keeping her balance. She glared at Lorelei with venom in her eyes. “You dare hit me? Do you believe I’ll—”
“Try it.”
Harold stood right behind his wife, his hands casually tucked into his pockets. His dark, fathomless eyes fixed on Lexi. He didn’t lift a finger, but his sheer intimidation factor was dialed to the absolute max.
The ultimate protective husband.
Lexi was so terrified by his gaze that her threat died in her throat.
“I’ve tolerated you for a long time,” Lorelei said, staring at her coldly, enunciating every word. “In the past, I only gave your family some grace for Grandma’s sake.” “Once Grandma is discharged, I’m moving her into my place. If anyone from the Bellamy family dares to provoke me again, I’ll make sure you regret it.”
Lexi glared back fiercely, stubbornly refusing to yield.
Harold indifferently withdrew his gaze, pulled out his phone, and dialed his father. He kept it brief: “Dad, put all collaborations with the Bellamy family on hold for this month.”
Faulkner Houston asked, “Why?”
“They bullied my wife. Consider this a warning.”
“I’ll handle it.”
“Yeah.”
Harold hung up the phone and turned to Felicia. “I’m sorry for the trouble. You can
get back to work; Lorelei and I will treat you to dinner another day.”
“Sounds great.” Felicia waved at Lorelei. “See you next time, Mrs. Houston.”
That single title felt like another resounding slap to Lexi’s face.
Line
“Let’s go back. Grandma is looking for you.” Harold didn’t spare the other woman another glance as he took his wife’s hand and fed ber toward the hospital room.
“Lorelei Bellamy, Dad won’t let you get away with this!” Lexi stood frozen in place, stomping her foot in rage.
Without looking back, Lorelei replied, “Let’s wait and see if he yells at you, or at me.”
Less than five minutes later.
Lexi received a frantic call from her father.
The moment nt she answered, Bertram Bellamy’s furious voice boomed through the speaker. “Why the hell did you provoke your sister? The Houston family just pulled all our contracts Do you have any idea how much money we just lost?!”
“Get your ass home right now!”
Lexi’s ears rang from the shouting. She shivered in fear, not daring to make a sound.
At 8:00 PM.
The couple finally left the hospital and returned to their shared home.
Since they had spent most of their time at the hospital recently, they had to leave their kitten in the housekeeper’s care.
After not seeing him for so many days, she kind of missed Pudge Bellamy.
Thinking of that ridiculous name, Lorelei couldn’t help but smile.
What a terrible name.
If they ever had kids in the future, she would absolutely never let him name them. Especially a daughter.
After changing into her slippers, she was just about to turn and look for the cat.
Suddenly, two large hands gripped her waist, effortlessly lifting her up and pressing her against the door.
“Your injuries…”
Lorelei’s eyes went wide, her thoughts completely scrambled. “The housekeeper said… the cat hasn’t eaten yet…”
“I haven’t eaten either.”
Harold swallowed her words, staring
at her with darkened, fathomless eyes His voice was incredibly Busky “Mrs. Houston, how about you feed me first?”
