Chapter 1569
[ 553 words ]
Kian’s brain buzzed violently once again.
“You knew about Janet’s connection to Juniper and the Schwartz family, so you wanted to use her as your stepping stone to the top,” Melvin continued, his expression dismissive. “But Janet wanted absolutely nothing to do with you. So when your confession got rejected, you threw a tantrum and staged this whole thing to ruin her reputation.”
“Kian, that was a truly vicious move.”
Hearing Melvin’s explanation and seeing Kian’s reaction, the onlookers finally pieced it all together.
“Good lord, he staged the whole thing. That’s disgusting.”
“Of all the rumors to start, he chose something that could ruin a girl’s life forever.”
“Why do you think he did it? He literally wanted to destroy Janet.”
“He always looked so gentle and polite. Who knew he was this rotten to the core?”
“Someone like him is studying law? He’s going to be a corrupt nightmare of a lawyer!”
“Say something, Kian!”
Kian looked at Melvin, then at the crowd aggressively closing in on him. Finally, he spoke coldly, “So what if I started the rumor?”
“If Janet doesn’t like me, why did she accept my breakfast?”
“She never took your breakfast!” A girl pushed her way through the crowd, panting heavily. She leaned on her knees, gasping for air. “You secretly left it every time and then disappeared.”
“It felt gross to throw it away, but it’s a waste of food. We haven’t been well-fed for that long,” the girl, who was Janet’s desk mate Winnie, said angrily. “So I ate it!”
“Besides, it was just a pastry and a drink. How much could that possibly cost? Who can’t afford that?”
“From the very beginning, Janet told you she didn’t like you. You were the one shamelessly forcing yourself on her.”
Kian froze again.
“Thanks, Winnie,” Janet said, staring at her friend with tearful eyes.
“No problem,” Winnie waved it off, still fuming. “I just can’t stand guys who act so self-righteous.”
The crowd erupted into insults, the words growing harsher by the second.
“So what?”
Triggered by the humiliation, Kian’s composure completely shattered With a trembling voice, he yelled “Janet do you dare bay you dont have feelings for this guy you call your ‘brother’?”
When he was pursuing her, he always felt she had someone else in her heart.
She would never say who it was when he asked.
No wonder she couldn’t say it!
“And you, Mr. Steele,” Kian turned his
rabid glare on Melvin, barking like a mad dog. “You have a girlfriend, yet you’re
intimately hanging out with
this girl. Aren’t you letting your
partner down?”
“I may be despicable, but you’re not exactly innocent, Mr. Steele.”
“Kian!”
Janet stood up, glaring at him coldly. “Stop talking nonsense! Mr. Steele is…”
“He’s what?”
Kian’s eyes were bloodshot, his laughter manic. “Is it that you have no feelings for him or of that he hasn’t beer hooking up with you behind his girlfriend’s back?”
Janet couldn’t deny the first part, because she really did like Melvin.
As for the second part…
Everyone’s eyes darted between Janet and Melvin.
They were gasping in shock one second and groaning the next.
Who needed the cafeteria food when they were getting stuffed full of this much drama?
Just then, Melvin stepped forward.
His deep voice rang out. “That’s right, there is a girl I like.”
The crowd: “Huh?”
So Janet really was the other woman?
He likes her, she likes him, but he also likes someone else?
Ahhhh! Their brains couldn’t handle it; the drama was too much.
