Chapter 1576
[ 625 words ]
“Yeah, you better go get that checked,” Harold chimed in, perfectly reading the room
as he added deliberately, “Any later and…”
It might just heal on its own.
“Hey.”
Lorelei nudged him gently, whispering, “Don’t ruin the setup.”
“I’m not.”
Harold grasped Lorelei’s hand, smiling softly. “This setup is rock solid. It can’t be ruined.”
“Exactly, hurry up and go check it,” Warren and Celine urged as well.
“Oh my god, it must be a terrible burn,” Coralie slapped on an overly dramatic expression. “Melvin, you can’t be hurt, otherwise I’ll cry to death, boo-hoo-hoo.” Coralie covered her face, naturally spreading her fingers to peek through the gaps.
*I’m crying.*
*Just kidding, I’m acting.*
Ebony Fox stood firmly in place, her expression grim as she watched a room full of terrible actors.
“Ebony, have some cake.” Kurt scurried over to her. “You stepped out to take a call and missed it, so I saved you a slice.”
Ebony Fox glanced at it, utterly disgusted. “I don’t eat that garbage.”
She was extremely disciplined and absolutely refused to touch anything high in sugar and fat.
“Water then? What do you want to drink? Wine? Coffee or Coke?”
“Ebony…”
“Did you strap a typewriter to your mouth? Why do you talk so much!” Annoyed, Ebony Fox glared at him coldly. “If you have nothing better to do, go run ten kilometers outside.”
“!!!”
Kurt’s face dropped. He immediately snatched some tissues, wiping down a spot here and dusting off a spot there.
Pretending to be extremely busy.
Ebony Fox opened her mouth but held back. Considering it was a good day, she refrained from cursing him out.
Kurt was truly the worst student she had ever taken on.
If it weren’t for Mr. Schwartz, she would have honestly kicked him a few times.
Meanwhile.
Janet had already supported the “weak and fragile” Melvin into the resting room.
“Juniper, you need to come in and look at this!” Janet called out to the main room while frantically trying to help Melvin take his shirt off.
“Okay, I’ll be right there.”
Juniper was still lounging comfortably on the sofa like a boss, ordering Shanley around. “I want some pineapple.”
“Keep eating and drinking, everyone.”
Seeing this, the others immediately went back to their own business. Absolutely nobody cared if Melvin lived or died.
Inside the room.
Melvin sat “weakly” on the sofa, letting Janet urgently unbutton his shirt.
Thinking about a kettle full of boiling water splashing onto him, she imagined his skin might be blistered and peeling.
Janet was so anxious her fingers were trembling, making it nearly impossible to undo the buttons.
Her eyes were red and wet, and tears were right on the verge of falling.
“Janet-“
Unable to bear seeing her worry any longer, Melvin caught her hands. “It’s fine,” he said softly. “The water wasn’t hot at all.”
“Huh?”
Janet’s hands froze. She looked at Melvin with big, teary eyes, her voice trembling. “You didn’t get burned?”
“No.”
Melvin unbuttoned the shirt himself and took it off to show her. “See? I’m fine!”
Janet didn’t believe him. She leaned in, gripping the man’s arms, thoroughly checking him from top to bottom.
He really was perfectly fine.
Staring at the man’s lean, sculpted
chest, the anxiety suspending Janet’s heart finally vanished, and
her cheeks slowly flushed a deep red
“As long as you’re okay.”
Finally realizing what she was doing, Janet silently pulled her hands back and
murmured, “Then let’s go back out.”
As she spoke, she turned to leave.
“Janet…”
Melvin took the opportunity to grab her hand, his expression entirely serious. “You
still haven’t answered my question.”
“What question?”
Janet bit her lip, her voice incredibly raspy.
“Are you willing to be my girlfriend?” Melvin asked in a low voice. “If you have any concerns, you can tell me. If you think there’s something wrong, with me, I will change it.”
Just please don’t leave him have
like this, He had been stumbling through his days in a daze feeling like he was about to die from the suspense!
