I guess that’s partially true for me, but rather than growing ‘fonder‘ of Enya since she’s been gone. my heart and my wolf have grown more desperate. I’ve missed every morning that I didn’t wake up beside her. I’ve missed every warrior training where I didn’t see her sparring. I’ve missed cvery time I walked into the kitchen, and she wasn’t there. I’ve missed every evening when it felt like her ghost stood just outside my door, ready to come in, but never did. I’ve missed her scent, her laugh, her naughty smile, her teasing looks, her kind words to the other pack members. I’ve missed every little thing about Enya. Every. Damn. Thing.
But today, that changes. Today, the train returns with her on it, and I feel almost nauseous at the thought of what I should expect from her when she does.
After the first month, her emails became nearly non–existent. I knew it would happen. I knew if she threw herself into the Academy, she wouldn’t have time to write emails. Any extra time she had would be spent studying or dealing with whatever issues or weaknesses the instructors had drawn out of her. But I still hated every minute of the silence.
Unlike when we dropped her off, it’s just me here to pick her up. Shane, Braden, and Jaden have basically taken over the management of the pack. If it weren’t for Shane going to the Academy in six months, I would tell the Council that he didn’t need me. However, I’m still here for support and while Shane’s gone, I intend to continue the positive work that he and his ranked members
have started.
When I hear the train whistle in the distance, my stomach twists into knots. I’ve gone through hundreds, maybe thousands, of scenarios of how our reunification could go. And even now, when she’s almost here, I have no idea how it will go.
The Academy changes you. I know that. The question for me is, did it change Enya in a way that made her realize that I was just a convenient and safe person to give her virginity to. It was so much more than that for me, but I don’t know how she will feel about it now that she’s had time, space, and perspective to think about it.
Since this was the first stop for students, it’s the last drop off for students. I already know my Uncle Dane and Aunt Harper got off at the last stop, heading home for the week to spend time with my cousin Devin. So, Enya is the only person I care to see getting off the Train.
When the train stops, I force myself to stand still. I want to rush forward, take her in my arms and tell her how much I missed her, but I need to hold back. If she doesn’t feel the same, if her feelings have changed now that she’s nearly eighteen, then I’ll have to deal with it.

Lorenzo walks off the train first, saying goodbye to the instructors and assistants who are still on the Train Right behind him is Enya, also waving goodbye and smiling the smile that I’ve missed so much
As soon as they are both off the train, they turn and hug each other. I feel the rush of furious jealousy in my gut, and I clench my teeth forcing myself to hold back my snarl. These two have obviously grown close, very close, during their time at the Academy. I suddenly understand Enya’s jealousy of Talia all those months ago.
