“That’s impossible!” the Chief Prosecutor protested.
“I suggest you review the written and digital evidence we have just submitted,” Daven replied calmly.
Then he faced forward again.
“I am not asking for sympathy,” he said. “I am asking for justice p>
Silence settled over the area for a few seconds.
Then the cameras erupted again. Shutters clicked rapidly, and new questions began to surface-this time with a different tone, more cautious, more restrained.
Richard leaned toward Daven and murmured, “That’s enough. You don’t need to say anything more p>
Daven gave a slight nod. He took a step back, moving away from the microphones.
Behind him, Arsen watched the screen with quiet satisfaction. Chris let out a long breath, relief finally easing the tension in his chest.
“What about Harold?” Daven asked before turning to leave.
“Cale and Detective Aaron are already on it,” Chris replied confidently. “I’m sure this is what Cale meant last night. If Harold made a move today, it was to keep you tied down here for as long as possible-while he worked on something else behind the scenes. But he won’t be able to go much further now p>
Daven nodded in understanding. “Finally… I can go back.” He turned toward Arsen, about to ask him to-
