Chapter 695

That morning, the Miller mansion was far louder than usual.

Small suitcases were already lined up in the main hall because Althea and her family were planning to return that night. The children ran back and forth with energy that seemed impossible to exhaust, while the staff moved through the mild chaos that, in only a few hours, they would no longer feel.

Then the house would be quiet again.

Naomi stood at the entrance to the dining room with a cup of tea in her hands, watching it all like someone still unsure whether she truly belonged in the picture before her, even temporarily.

“You’re standing there like someone preparing to run away,” Lydia said as she pulled out the chair beside her. “Sit down.”

“I’m fine here.”

Lydia clicked her tongue softly. “That is not a good choice. Besides, don’t you want to join us? Althea made cupcakes. They’re delicious. You should try one.”

Naomi sighed under her breath, then obeyed.

Josh, seated across from her, immediately leaned forward.

“You’re coming with us today.”

Naomi blinked in confusion. “Where?”

“You’ll find out.”

“That sounds like a trap.” She eyed Josh’s enthusiasm with suspicion.

“It’s not a trap,” Josh said with a wide grin. “It’s a surprise.”

Grace, sitting beside Naomi, wrapped herself around Naomi’s arm. “Just come with us. I’m sure you’ll like it too.”

“Tell me where first,” Naomi said, flicking the tip of Grace’s nose.

“Disneyland,” Grace answered without hesitation. “I want to play there.”

“Yep, Grace is right,” Josh added. “We want one last family outing before we go back to SunCity tonight.”

Naomi gave a faint smile. “Enjoy your vacation. I’ll stay home.”

“No!” Grace hurried closer to Naomi, pleading as she looked up at her with shining, imploring eyes. “Come on, come with us. Family trips are fun.”

“She’s right,” Josh said.

Naomi stared at the two of them for several seconds, then exhaled. “You two are dangerous.”

“That’s a compliment,” Josh declared proudly.

Althea sliced bread with a small smile. “They learn quickly, Naomi. So I don’t think you should reject them.”

“Exactly,” Lydia chimed in. “Besides, you haven’t left the house in a long time, have you?”

Naomi suppressed a smile. “I don’t like crowded places.”

“How convenient,” Althea said. “It’ll be quiet today.”

Naomi frowned. “What do you mean?”

Daven set down his cup. “Disneyland is closed to the public today.”

“Why?”

“Because I asked them to.”

The room fell silent for one full second.

Then Naomi turned to Lydia.

“Your family is deeply abnormal.”

“I told you so.”

An hour later, a convoy of cars left the mansion and headed for Hong Kong Disneyland, which that day was completely closed to the public.

The main gates were heavily guarded. Once their vehicles entered, the enormous amusement park looked like an empty fairy- tale world waiting only for them. Men in black uniforms were stationed at several points throughout the grounds.

Naomi stepped out of the car and stared at the castle in the distance with an expression caught between awe and disbelief.

“This is insane,” she murmured.

Josh threw both hands in the air. “Daddy is pretty protective of us. So it makes sense that a place usually packed with people suddenly became empty today.”

Grace had already grabbed Naomi’s hand. “Come on, hurry. I want to ride the horses first.”

“The horses?”

“The ones that go around the big pole.”

“The carousel,” Josh said smugly.

Grace rolled her eyes. “I know.”

Lydia walked beside Naomi, wearing oversized sunglasses. “Just enjoy it. Not every day people get to be stressed in a place this expensive.”

“I’m starting to understand why Althea said you were dangerous.”

“That’s a compliment too.”

The day passed in a strangely lighthearted way.

Naomi was dragged onto rides by a family she had only recently met. She laughed when Josh screamed the loudest on a children’s roller coaster, and nearly choked on her drink when she saw Daven keep a perfectly flat expression while everyone else panicked on the water ride.

“You didn’t even scream,” Naomi said in disbelief. “And it was so thrilling, dropping from that height and spinning like that.”

Daven adjusted the sleeve of his shirt, slightly damp from the splash. “Should we go again?”

Josh instantly shouted with excitement.

Grace refused and chose instead to drag her mother toward somewhere calmer.

Meanwhile, Lydia stood at the crossroads, trying to decide whether to accompany Josh or go with Althea.

Naomi laughed harder than she had intended.
