Chapter 702 Coco, we meet again.
Ravyn quickly reached out through the mindlink, his thoughts urgent and desperate. ’Mom, please tell Voren there is another spy.’ He was certain that if Voren killed these two witches now, he would miss the chance to get whoever the spy was.
Kylie froze when she received the mindlink.
Her blood turned to ice in her veins, her heart stuttering in her chest. Her hands trembled at her sides, her breath catching in her throat. ’Ravyn, what’s going on? Why would you want to help Voren?’
All along, she thought Ravyn was being rebellious, thought he had turned against the very man who had once been his closest friend. But now, she didn’t know what to think. The ground beneath her feet felt unsteady.
Ravyn did not have the time for all these questions. ’Mom, if Sera transferred some money to you, then you know why. I can’t explain further until we know who the second spy is,’ he explained through the mindlink, his thoughts rushed and fractured.
No one would suspect her mother passing the message because everyone knew she had adopted Seraphine as her daughter. A perfect courier, a perfect cover.
Kylie thought the money was what she’d given Seraphine when Ravyn divorced her and had planned to return it.
’Ravyn, if you don’t explain…’
’That money was given to me by Voren. He used Sera’s account because in his own words, he hates the stink of poverty on me,’ Ravyn’s voice cut through the mindlink with urgency.
Kylie smiled through tears, her eyes glistening with moisture she refused to let fall. Now she understood that Ravyn hadn’t lost his mind. He was still the boy she had raised, the man she had always believed in.
She quickly made her way to Seraphine through the crowd, her movements careful, deliberate. She leaned in close and whispered, her voice barely audible.
“Ravyn says there is another spy but he doesn’t know who.”
Seraphine sent the information to Voren through mindlink, her thoughts swift and sure. He smiled and responded to her.
’Then we torture them slowly until the spy shows his or her face. Tell Kylie to inform Ravyn to send a video of what I’m about to do next to Battal.’
After Seraphine conveyed the message, Voren’s voice rang through the gallery, cold and commanding.
“Alpha Corvine, you are the best with the sword, right?”
It wasn’t a question because one of the warriors quickly provided Corvine with the sword as he stepped forward, his expression carved from stone, just as his name.
“King Voren, what would you have me do?”
Voren smirked, his eyes glittering with something dark and dangerous.
“If I ask for a body part, I want both of them to lose the same body part at the same time. Each second of delay means they lose a body part. Do you understand?”
“Perfectly.” Corvine answered, his expression cold. At times like this, he loved his new wolf. The beast within him purred with anticipation, hungry for blood and justice.
“What do we do now?”
Jane asked Candy in a hushed tone, her breath shaky, her voice trembling with barely contained terror. Candy was not a member of the Lycan’s fortress so she was not privy to the mindlink.
However, due to the stones in the crown and necklace, Jane could also not communicate with Amelia through the mindlink. She could only try to gain the sympathy of the guests.
“Pack members and guests. You are all witnesses to the barbarism of the Grimroot pack. We were just admiring these items. We aren’t thieves.”
“Isn’t this injustice?” A guest from one of the surrounding packs spoke up, his voice carrying a note of righteous indignation. “What’s the proof that they wanted to steal the crown?”
“We were all in the gallery and honestly, I also touched a few things but my fingers never got stuck. The power in the mythical stone must have caught them.” Another guest from a different pack added, his voice dripping with false sympathy.
Another one disagreed, his voice rising above the murmurs. “We all know how ruthless the Alpha King is, and the Alpha of the Grimroot pack is becoming more and more like him. These two women should be thrown in the dungeon and not subjected to such.”
Candy was glad to slowly reach her aim. She thought that buying the pity of the pack members and guests would prevent Voren from what he planned. But she was wrong. So terribly, terribly wrong.
Corvine spoke up, his voice carrying across the gallery like thunder.
“This is the Grimroot pack. If you hate how things are done here, you are free to leave. These two tried to steal what belongs to the King and Queen and as the Alpha, I demand justice.”
Leave? No one wanted to leave when the Blood Moon Festival was around the corner. They had already crossed midnight, meaning it was going to be today. They were even wishing to be mated to she-wolves in the Grimroot pack so they could stay.
Yeah, not only she-wolves, but even werewolves from other pack were already planning to migrate.
“We didn’t mean it like that, Alpha Corvine. My apologies.” One of them apologized, his voice small and contrite. The two others apologized as well, their heads lowered in shame.
“Slice off their foot.” Voren said coldly, only a shrill tore through the crowd.
There was no warning. Corvine’s sword was so swift, no one saw how the witches lost both their feet. Blood was soaking the gallery, pooling around their bodies like a crimson tide. Ravyn sent a video to Battal, his fingers trembling as he typed.
’How good is your backup? They’ll be dead before it arrives.’
“Fuck you, Sera.” Candy yelled, her voice cracking with agony and rage. She could not bear the pain anymore, could not bear the humiliation, could not bear the weight of her own failure.
“You ruined my face, and I came to teach you a lesson.”
Seraphine smiled, a cold, knowing thing that curved her lips and chilled the air around her. “Coco, we meet again.”
