Chapter 717 Voren’s greatest reward
Ravyn’s words stunned everyone present, including Daisy. She stared at him, her eyes wide with disbelief, her heart twisting hard in her chest.
She realized that the man who had once loved her with every fiber of his being had changed beyond recognition. The man who had once thrown away everything for her, who had once worshiped the ground she walked on, was now someone she barely knew.
Seraphine was amazed, but Voren was not too surprised. After his earlier conversations with Ravyn, he already knew the man had changed for the better. The bitterness had faded from his eyes, replaced by something quieter and far humbler.
But it was his parents who looked the most satisfied. Humphrey and Kylie sat together, their hands tightly intertwined, tears glistening in their eyes. This was the pup they had raised before the Fenrir came and twisted him. This was the son they had always believed still lived somewhere inside him.
The Moon Goddess smiled at the judgment Ravyn had passed on himself. What she did next was even more heartwarming, and it brought Voren to tears.
“Your wish is granted, and the records shall be changed. What I needed was your DNA in producing a stronger white wolf. That is why I took the memory of that night from you too. However, what happened remains my business, and now even DNA tests will show that Voren is Esperanza’s biological father.”
A tear slid down Voren’s cheek. It carved a quiet path through the dust and exhaustion on his face, a silent testament to the depth of his love. He loved that little girl with everything he had, and now he truly got to be her father in every way that mattered.
This was a gift, a blessing he had never dared to hope for. The old trauma would also be taken from her. She would no longer carry the wounds of rejection or the fear of a father who had once wanted her dead.
Voren also remembered how those Alphas had picked on him when they found out Esperanza was Ravyn’s child. Their whispered words, their mocking glances, their cruel assumptions had cut deeper than they knew.
He had always sensed they were planning something dark, but now he could stand tall and state without a single doubt that Esperanza was his, and DNA would back every word.
“Thank you, Selene.” Voren called the Moon Goddess by name, his voice thick with emotion that he made no effort to hide.
“You deserve it, Voren. You loved mother and child with a love so fierce I have never seen anything like it. Even if anyone brings up the fact that Espe is Ravyn’s biological child, the DNA will prove otherwise. You have not only loved Seraphine and Espe, but even Ravyn.”
Her voice softened, warm with clear approval. “Neither were you afraid of raising him from the ashes, and you even gave him enough money to bring him back to his feet. Only a true leader can take such a risk when dealing with a rival.”
The Moon Goddess was truly pleased. Her original plans had been ruined, yet Voren and Seraphine would still protect the werewolves until Esperanza was old enough to step into her destiny. The future remained uncertain, but it rested in good hands.
“So when does the bond break?” Corvine asked the question, his gaze fixed on the bond still linking Liah and Voren. The crimson thread pulsed between them, stubborn and unyielding. The Moon Goddess turned her attention to him, her expression knowing.
“Now, Corvine.” The moment the word left her lips, Liah’s bond with Voren snapped and faded into nothing. Both of them released long breaths of pure relief as the tension drained from their shoulders. Yet Ravyn’s bond remained, still glowing, still binding him to Seraphine.
“Corvine, you also have made me proud. Your loyalty to the white and black wolf is exceptional. That is why you qualify to have the love wolf. With your new wolf, you can strengthen hers now.”
Corvine smiled as the last of the tension left his body. Love truly was a beautiful thing. He reached for Liah’s hand and squeezed it gently, a silent promise of everything they would build together from this day forward.
Seraphine’s voice carried clearly across the gathering.
“Selene, I have a question. If the crown belongs to the Lycans, then why does it glow when we wear it?”
“Because it chose you as its protectors. The necklace had always belonged to Oriana’s family, but they had no idea of its true power. They only passed it down to their married pups for protection.”
Her gaze rested on Oriana for a short while before she continued. “Only the King’s crown carries the real power, but Jaron used the same stones to create the Queen’s crown for his wife, so the Queen’s crown drew power from that of the King. If the crown is ever won by the true Lycan King mated to a she-wolf queen, both races would be brought to their knees.”
Voren shook his head, his expression hardening. “We werewolves would never marry a Lycan.”
Those creatures were too heartless, and the Moon Goddess understood the depth of his claim. She smiled, her expression gentle yet knowing.
“It seems impossible, but if your love was strong enough to destroy my plans, then what makes you think a new world order is not possible? There will come a time when Espe’s wolf and power must be sealed completely and she must be sent to the human world. But after she finds true love, her powers will awaken stronger than before, and not even the Lycans will be able to stand against her.”
Ravyn smiled, a hint of his old self flickering through the exhaustion and pain.
“In that case, can you break my bond with my ex-wife? It is pure torture watching their lovey-dovey act.”
He could barely look at Voren and Seraphine. How shameless could they be? Even in front of the Moon Goddess they stayed glued to each other like they could not bear an inch of space between them.
Everyone laughed, the sound bright and warm, cutting through the heavy atmosphere. But before the Moon Goddess could answer, Daisy’s voice cut through, sharp and desperate.
“If you can change DNAs, then why can you not change mine or Ravyn’s? Why not make Voren the buff wolf instead and give me another wolf?”
