Chapter 484 His Daughter Is Nothing Like Him
Ravyn had been running around nonstop since the crack of dawn, bouncing from one group of guests to another, making sure everybody felt welcome. As the host, he barely caught a breath for himself the whole time.
Damon, on the other hand, had taken full control of the bonfire setup. He made sure the firewood was stacked just right and all the refreshments were perfectly lined up and ready for the big evening gathering.
Once everything looked spot-on, he headed back to the pack house to freshen up before the real festivities kicked off.
The second he stepped back outside, something immediately caught his eye and sent his instincts into overdrive.
The Alpha King was roughly dragging one of his drivers toward a sleek black SUV parked a little away.
Damon’s heart picked up speed. Without a second thought, he slipped into the shadows and quietly followed until he was close enough to catch every word of their tense conversation.
The Alpha King’s face looked like carved stone, his sharp eyes locked onto the trembling driver with zero mercy.
“Did you follow them last night? Why the hell haven’t you reported back to me yet?”
The driver dropped his head fast, sweat already pouring down his forehead as he stammered, “I’m so sorry, Alpha King. I only saw the princess get into Beta Corvine’s car. He drove her straight to his hotel, but the moment I noticed him heading toward my vehicle, I panicked and took off before he could blow my cover.”
The driver braced himself, clearly expecting the worst kind of punishment to come crashing down.
But instead, a slow, satisfied smile crept across the Alpha King’s face, growing into something downright smug.
“That’s actually good news,” he said, his voice dripping with confidence. “I know my daughter better than anyone else ever could. She’s only using Corvine to get closer to Voren.”
Hidden nearby in the shadows, Damon heard every single word, and a hot wave of anger surged through him. His eyes narrowed sharply.
He immediately wanted to rush off and warn Seraphine, but there wasn’t enough time. He still needed to clean up and get back before everyone gathered again.
With a frustrated growl building in his chest, he shoved the troubling conversation to the back of his mind and hurried to his room.
A little while later, after throwing on some fresh clothes, he stepped back into the hallway feeling a bit more put together. That’s when Daisy suddenly rushed past him, one hand clamped tightly over her mouth as she bolted straight for the guest washroom.
Damon frowned deeply, a bad feeling twisting in his gut. Something was seriously off. He glanced around, hoping to spot Ravyn nearby, but the guy was nowhere in sight.
When Daisy finally came out a few minutes later, her face was ghostly pale, and she looked completely drained.
Damon didn’t hesitate. He walked right over to her. “Hey, are you okay?”
Daisy blinked in total surprise, clearly not expecting any concern from him at all. Even though she felt awful, a tiny, weak smile still broke through.
“Not really,” she admitted, gently rubbing her stomach. “The smell of all these different foods is making me feel like absolute hell.”
Damon’s brows furrowed together, and an uneasy, strange weight settled heavy in his chest. He silently prayed it wasn’t what he was starting to suspect. His eyes scanned the hallway again. “Where’s Ravyn?”
Daisy just shrugged weakly. “He’s off talking with some of the other Alphas.”
Damon gave a quick nod. “Come on, let’s get you to the hospital for a quick checkup.”
He wasn’t doing this out of any warm feelings for Daisy—after everything she’d pulled, he’d rather keep his distance. But he was doing it for Seraphine.
She needed to know everything about Daisy and not be hit with any kind of surprises.
Daisy didn’t argue. She’d never felt anything like this before, and lately her wolf had gone strangely silent, pulling away completely ever since all her nasty schemes against Seraphine had blown up in her face.
The drive to the pack hospital was dead quiet, neither of them saying much. Once Daisy went in for her exam, Damon waited outside, trying to keep his thoughts from spiraling.
Before long, Daisy got a mind link. Ravyn’s voice cut through her head. ’Where are you? We need to leave.’
She answered quickly, ’I wasn’t feeling well, so Damon brought me to the hospital. I’m almost finished.’
’Stay put. I’m coming to get you.’
After the link cut off, Daisy tucked her phone away and went to Damon inform Damon. “Ravyn’s on his way.”
Damon nodded. “That’s fine. I’ll stick around and grab your test results for you.” That was the reason he came and was glad Daisy could not wait for it.
“Thank you,” she said softly.
A few minutes later, Ravyn showed up, picked up Daisy, and they took off together. Damon stayed behind in the now strangely quiet waiting area.
Soon enough, one of the pack doctors came out with a medical file in hand. “Here are her results.”
Damon took the envelope, and the second he opened it, all the color drained from his face. His eyes darkened with shock and a rush of heavy emotions. Without wasting another second, he found a quiet place and called Seraphine.
She picked up after just a couple of rings, her voice soft and controlled, barely above a whisper so no one around her at the festival grounds would overhear.
“What is it?”
Damon jumped straight in, his tone urgent. “Sera… we’ve got a serious problem.”
There was a short beat before her calm voice came back. “Tell me.”
“You can’t trust the princess. I think she’s up to something.”
He spilled everything he’d overheard between the Alpha King and the driver, every single word, every chilling detail. When he finished, he braced himself, expecting Seraphine to sound worried or thrown off.
Instead, a soft, knowing laugh slipped from her lips, full of unshakable confidence.
“Don’t even waste your time on that old man,” she said, sounding almost amused. “His daughter is nothing like him.”
She sounded like she was about to hang up. “I’ve gotta go.”
“Wait,” Damon cut in quickly, stopping her. “There’s something else.”
A hint of impatience edged into her voice. “What is it?”
Damon took a deep breath, glancing left and then right to make sure no one was close enough to listen in. Then he lowered his voice, the words heavy on his tongue.
“Daisy is pregnant.”
