Chapter 713 When she died
The moon goddess continued to narrate the history that brought the chaos, her voice weaving through the night like an ancient song of sorrow and betrayal.
“The white wolves tried to hide away from the Lycans, moving further away and forming a new pack with the resources they had saved from the Lycans and for ages, they were safe, lived a normal life but the Lycans continued to search for them.”
The moon goddess paused and turned to Madison, her ancient eyes softening with something that looked almost like pity.
“What your mother told you was the revenge of the Lycans. When they returned, they did not come to take one sacrifice as agreed but the sacrifice for all the time the white wolves had been in hiding. That’s why they raided the pack of the white wolves, and took them all at once, killing those who resisted in the process.”
Her voice dropped, heavy with the weight of centuries.
“I secretly protected you, to use your generation to create a new breed of white wolves who would walk according to destiny. That was why I directed you to the Centenary pack because their Alpha and Luna had pleased me well.”
She paused, letting the words settle.
“When you got pregnant, I gave a clear order through the shaman of the Centenary pack that the white wolf would belong to the heir of the Centenary pack because I needed the white wolf to be in a pack to protect it from the blood pact made by her ancestors with the Lycans. And in return, she will have a home to call her own.”
Her gaze swept across the gathered faces, ancient and knowing. “I didn’t want power to be centered in one place, so I had already sent a black wolf ahead, the first of its kind.”
She drew a breath, the air around her crackling with power.
“Per the rules of the ethereal realm, creating such powerful werewolves has a reaction, the Fenrir wolf but there was a bait. A Fenrir wolf could become a good and powerful one if the parents of the carrier do not soil their hands or repent along the way and turn over a new leaf. I warned for Ravyn to not be deceived by the Fenrir but that was exactly what happened.”
Ravyn’s gaze lowered, his head bowing under the weight of her words. His parents had told him all this, had warned him, had begged him to see the truth. But he rebelled. He chose Daisy. He chose the Fenrir. And now, he was paying the price.
The moon goddess continued to narrate history, her voice relentless, unforgiving.
“I thought that with time, he would be wise enough to see the truth because though the buff wolf was strong, its real powers would depend on the white wolf. I did this for him to value her, and make her happy, but I failed.”
Her tone took a sudden edge and everyone noticed how she changed as she spoke. Her appearance was no longer like that of a child, but of a teenager. The transformation was subtle but unmistakable, a modification in the very fabric of her being.
“He loved the Fenrir, and it wasn’t just the parents of the Fenrir who got their hands dirty but the Fenrir herself, so he was slowly losing his strength.” The moon goddess explained, her voice cold and cutting.
“The Fenrir is carrying twin pups now, and if they are brought up well, will bridge the gap of their father’s lost powers. After the pups are birthed, she has to be tried for the sins she committed, and judgement passed. If she changes after a decade, then the pack can take her back but if not, she will die horribly.”
The moon goddess passed judgement on Daisy before she continued with the narration. Daisy’s face went pale, her breath catching in her throat, her hands trembling in her lap.
“Another thing I prohibited happened. The black and white wolf weren’t supposed to be together, but Ravyn allowed it all to happen. I tried to make the correction and that’s why I allowed it when the Fenrir used a witch to erase her memories. I hoped that before the spell clears, Ravyn would have fallen in love with her but that didn’t happen so I thought of another plan.”
Her voice grew heavier, thick with disappointment and regret.
“I had to create a more powerful white wolf with the DNA of the buff wolf and that of the white wolf. I hoped that this pup would also bring love between them but again, I failed because Ravyn did not allow the promised white wolf to grow in her destined pack.”
Her words to Ravyn were lethal, each syllable a blade that cut deep into his soul.
“I thought that Ravyn would have his parents’ wisdom and follow their guidance. I could have given the buff wolf to another pack but Humphrey and Kylie had been very good leaders, and I wanted their pack to be the most powerful.”
She paused, her eyes burning with ancient fury.
“I never expected Ravyn to order for the death of the pup who was the hope of the future. That’s why I had to break protocol to step in and save her myself because Seraphine was not even aware. I still hoped for him to come to his senses before the spell clears but he didn’t. The spell didn’t clear, but a white wolf had its limits too and that was the number seven.”
Her voice dropped to something almost like a whisper, heavy with sorrow.
“At that point, I knew there was no turning back so I tried to reunite her with her pup but the spell had caused a hate between her and the black wolf until that night at the Sovereign Circle when she died.”
“What? I died?”
Seraphine was stunned, her body going rigid in Voren’s arms.
