Chapter 745 He’s confident about taking your wife
The corner of Voren’s lips twitched as he helped her out of the private jet, his hand steady on her arm, the warmth of his touch familiar and grounding. “Babe, did you forget about the bond? I felt every bit of your anxiety and knew you’d need a few days here. I just wasn’t sure exactly where,” he said, and Seraphine’s heart swelled so full it almost hurt, overflowing with fresh gratitude for the mate bond.
That deep connection that bound them together, that let him feel her joys and her fears without a single word spoken, that made him know her even in the quietest moments.
“You’ve not only given me so much joy, you’ve brought the mate bond back to life between us. You’re amazing, and the fact that you’re mine makes me the luckiest living she wolf alive.”
Seraphine spoke the words with raw honesty, her voice thick and shaking with feeling. Voren felt flattered, a rare flush climbing up the side of his neck.
“Don’t flatter me, babe. I know how to take care of what matters most, and you’re the most precious thing I have.”
Seraphine knew she could spend every night and every day talking to him and never get tired of it. Every word, every look, every touch felt like a gift she had never expected to receive. “So I get to go wherever I want?”
She asked as they climbed into the waiting SUV, and Voren nodded. “Anywhere, but we go together.” His voice stayed calm yet firm, leaving no room for argument. “I’m not leaving my pregnant wife alone anywhere. Not when we both know the Lycans run the human world through the mafia.”
Seraphine had been ready to push back on him coming along, but his reason hit hard enough to make her swallow the protest. He was right. The danger was real, and she would never put herself or their unborn pups in harm’s way.
“You’re right. And in that case, let me pull you deeper into the management of MindNest. You won’t just be a shareholder anymore. You’ll be Co chairman.”
Seraphine offered the idea, and Voren raised a brow, clearly interested. “I’ll do it if you agree to take a Co-CEO position in Ashkael Holdings. We need to take turns managing the companies once the twins arrive. I want one of us always close during their early years.”
He explained, and Seraphine agreed without a second of hesitation. The only reason Bryan had grown up balanced and not turned out like either of his parents was because she had been the one raising him in those first critical years.
“I agree. But I need a few days with Leon. There’s a case of conjoined twins he needs my help with.”
This time Voren’s frown was small but clear, his protective side surging fast, a dark flicker moving through his eyes. “Leon contacted you?”
Seraphine felt a spike of nervousness as she sensed his unease, the quiet jealousy simmering hot under the surface. “I contacted him.”
“I see.” Voren answered and said nothing more. The silence that followed felt heavy and charged, full of things neither of them put into words.
It came as a surprise when they walked into MindNest. The Deputy CEO had not been expecting them, yet the company was running at its best. Both Voren and Seraphine took in the smooth efficiency, the order, the quiet steady hum of people doing their jobs well.
“I think my workers deserve a raise,” she told Voren, and he nodded.
“I’ll look at each person’s performance and decide the amount.” He offered his full support, and Seraphine smiled, warmth spreading through her chest like sunlight. “It’s good having someone as experienced as you beside me.”
With Voren’s help, everything at MindNest was handled in just a few hours, so Seraphine did not need to return the next day.
The following morning, they went to Ashkael Holdings, and this time Voren walked her through every part of his responsibilities. Ashkael Holdings had far more branches and was larger and harder to manage than MindNest, so they spent three full days there.
Seraphine had lunch with Nicole a few times when she came by to see Pete. Nicole’s voice trembled with a mix of hope and fear as she shared the news. “Pete is my mate, and he proposed last night. Sera, I said yes, but I’m terrified he’ll leave me if he finds out I’m not human.”
While Voren talked with Pete in his office, Seraphine sat with Nicole in Voren’s office. She smiled and gave her advice in a gentle but steady voice.
“You don’t have to tell him anything while you’re still in the human world. If he starts pushing for a wedding date, tell him there’s something special you want him to see first. A surprise. You’re a doctor. Get him to the pack and show him everything.”
“If he accepts it, he’ll keep the secret. If he doesn’t, we’ll wipe his memories of the pack and send him back like nothing ever happened. Then it’ll be up to you whether you still want to marry him and stay in the human world, or let him go. Whatever you decide, you’ll have our full support.”
Nicole smiled at the suggestion, relief washing over her face. “I see why you handle so many tough situations. You always have a clear answer ready.”
Seraphine only smiled in return. The next day Voren drove her to the hospital. She arrived to find Leon not there and immediately regretted not calling ahead. Just as she reached for her phone, Voren stopped her. “I’ll do it.”
He dialed Leon’s number, his voice cool and firm. “Where are you? Off duty?”
“Yeah,” Leon answered, then added, “My next time on duty starts in four hours.”
“Then I’ll just take my wife and leave. Don’t blame me if you miss the chance.”
Leon’s voice came back desperate and urgent. “Wait. You’re already at the hospital? I’ll be there in thirty minutes.”
Voren smiled and ended the call. “He’ll be here in thirty minutes.”
Seraphine shook her head with a small smile. “I checked the schedule. He shouldn’t be here for another four hours. V, we could’ve just waited.”
Voren shrugged, not looking guilty in the least. “Time is money, darling.”
He reached up to tuck a few strands of hair behind her ear and was about to steal a kiss when his encrypted phone rang, the sharp sound cutting straight through the moment. It was Ravyn, and his voice carried a tight edge of alarm.
“Voren, do you know this man? He’s confident about taking your wife. I already sent the picture.”
Voren lowered the phone. The second he saw the image, the warmth drained from his face and something cold settled in his eyes.
