Chapter 710 You are safer in my arms. This is where you belong
The confusion only made Seraphine uncomfortable, but Bloodfang was helping Marsha through it, and her strength was enough for her to stand on her own.
“V, what’s going on?” She asked, feeling worried, her brow furrowed with confusion and unease. The threads still pulsed at his wrist, a constant reminder of the bonds that refused to break.
But Voren smiled at her, the expression warm and reassuring, a balm to her frayed nerves. “Don’t worry. Mom would explain it.”
“I can stand on my own now,” She said but Voren shook his head, his arms tightening around her, pulling her closer against his chest.
“You are safer in my arms. This is where you belong.”
“You will get tired,” she pointed out, a hint of teasing in her voice despite the tension that still coiled in her chest. Voren smirked, his eyes glinting with mischief and something deeper, something that spoke of devotion and unwavering certainty.
“Wanna bet? I can carry you like this for eternity.”
Seraphine laughed, the tension easing off her chest as she wrapped her two arms around his neck. The sound was bright and warm, cutting through the heavy atmosphere like sunlight through storm clouds.
“Luna Thaliah, please move to your husband. The moon goddess will be making an appearance in an hour to clear all misunderstandings,” Oriana said softly, her voice gentle but firm.
Athaliah moved over to Corvine’s side, her footsteps quick and sure. She shared a bond with her husband too, so that was enough for her.
Seraphine spoke after, her voice carrying across the pack ground with the weight of absolute certainty.
“I choose the love of my life, Voren, and he’s the only one I wished for during the Full Moon Festival. I reject every other bond.”
“I accept your rejection.” Ravyn said quickly, his head lowered. The words came out rushed, desperate, as if he wanted to sever the connection before anyone could see how much it hurt.
But Seraphine frowned, her gaze fixed on her wrist where the thread still glowed, still pulsed, still connected her to him.
“Why is the bond still there?”
This time, Voren was disturbed. Knowing that Thaliah was married, he was sure the connection would soon break but Ravyn wasn’t.
His jaw tightened, his eyes darkening with something dangerous. The thread that bound his wife to another man was a wound that refused to heal, a threat that refused to die.
But Killian refused to let the matter settle. He was like the demon sent to torment everyone who wished wrong, his voice dripping with malicious glee.
“Alpha Ravyn, I honestly hoped for the moon goddess to pair you both together, but you surprised me. You even wished for her as your mate before coronating Daisy. What game were you playing?”
Ravyn’s teeth gritted together, the sound of enamel grinding against enamel echoing in his skull. But met with Voren’s questioning gaze, he swallowed his pride. The words came out heavy, dragged from somewhere deep and painful.
“Yes, when Sera returned to help the Centenary pack from the chemical explosion, I realized that I had feelings for her. Voren even mentioned it, asked me if there was anything in me that wanted to work it out, but I thought of Bryan. If I had known by then that he wasn’t mine, maybe, things would have been different. I chose Daisy because of him but right now, I have no idea as to why the bond wouldn’t break so no one should blame me.”
Killian laughed harder, the sound sharp and unhinged, the laugh of a man who had nothing left to lose.
“A love triangle. I like it. Don’t worry, Alpha Ravyn, we Alphas are on your side.”
Ravyn shook his head, his expression weary, his eyes heavy with exhaustion and regret.
“Stop hoping. All other Alphas bonded to her can feel the extra heart beats. The Queen is already pregnant with twins. I guess the King played the game better and can’t you see, the thread between them is brighter than all others.”
The news of the pregnancy caused the other Alphas to quickly accept the rejection, relieving Seraphine of their bond. Relief flooded through her, warm and overwhelming, as the threads one by one snapped and faded.
Had it not been for the pregnancy, those Alphas would have indeed made things hard for her and Voren.
But now, she needed to relieve herself of Ravyn’s bond, just as Voren needed to relieve himself of Liah’s bond.
“I only wished for Liah to be my mate under the Full Moon Festival. I reject all other bonds,” Corvine announced, his voice strong and clear. Jasmine, Tallulah and Emery accepted his rejection together, their voices rising in unison.
Emery wanted nothing to do with Zane, but they were bonded, and she wasn’t sure whether or not to break it off. Zane had changed a lot, and had been pursuing her at the office relentlessly. His persistence was both flattering and exhausting, and she didn’t know what to do.
Athaliah spoke next, her voice steady and sure. “I only wished for a fated mate during the Full Moon Festival. Right now, I choose my husband, the only man I love, Corvine. I reject every other bond.”
Of course, her bond with Voren refused to break. Damon accepted her rejection with a short explanation, his voice carrying a note of genuine apology.
“Forgive me, Luna, I had no idea you and Alpha Corvine were in love when I made the wish. I hope you don’t take it personal.”
Liah smiled, warmth softening her features. “No, Beta Damon. You are an honorable man.”
Her response pleased Damon and he moved away with a smile, relief evident in his posture.
However, Killian laughed, his voice sharp and mocking. “What makes you think I will accept your rejection, even if it’s a fake bond ha?”
Corvine stood protectively in front of his wife, his body a shield between her and the threat.
“Alpha Killian, she already chose me. If you have a thread of decency, you’ll accept the rejection. If the moon goddess so refuses to break the bond, then we can find another way.”
Killian remembered how Ravyn and Liah’s bonds with Voren and Seraphine refused to break. He hoped for the same thing, his eyes gleaming with malicious anticipation. “Alright, I accept your rejection.”
The bond broke freely, and his teeth gritted together, fury contorting his features. “Fuck, I should not have accepted it.”
Everyone laughed, the sound bright and warm, cutting through the tension. Killian’s words and presence felt like a comic relief to everyone present.
“Alright.” The shaman began to speak, her voice carrying across the pack ground with the weight of authority.
“Most of the multiple lust and love bonds have been broken. Like we said, this isn’t the real bond, so if you don’t like who wished for you and vice versa, this is your time to initiate a rejection.”
Jasmine and Kael remained together but she could see the conflicted look in Kael’s eyes. The war that raged behind his gaze, the uncertainty that clouded his features.
“You wished for me to be your mate during the Full Moon Festival, but you wish to know the moon goddess’s true intentions. Go on, Kael, initiate the rejection.”
