Chapter 718 Mine, She’s Mine
Daisy’s question made sense.
It was clear that her brain was finally resetting, the fog of entitlement and delusion clearing from her mind. For the first time, everyone agreed with her.
Heads nodded, eyes flickered with understanding, and a murmur of agreement rippled through the gathering.
The moon goddess explained, her voice patient but firm.
“Adult fates are sealed and records cannot be altered. Are you also telling me to make Ravyn the black wolf? I don’t think Voren would agree to that. As for Espe, it’s only possible because of her time in the ethereal realm. Per the rules, her memories could not be wiped until the parties involved had paid the price.”
“Ravyn already regrets his actions and you, Daisy, who was the cause of everything, is still paying for your punishment. So no, I can’t give you a new wolf until after a decade where you have proven to deserve it and no, I can’t give Voren a buff wolf just because I want him to bring the Lycans to their knees. Both he and Ravyn were born with their wolves and that cannot be changed.”
Other werewolves got their wolves around fifteen but Voren, Ravyn, and Sera already had their wolves before birth for the purpose of destiny.
Daisy’s gaze lowered, shame coloring her cheeks. “I shall accept my punishment at the right time.”
No one paid attention to her as the moon goddess spoke in haste, her voice carrying the urgency of approaching dawn.
“We have less than ten minutes for the arrival of the Blood Moon. I shall continue to communicate with you through your new shaman, Oriana. I’m taking your old shaman with me.”
“Can’t we have both?” Voren asked, feeling nostalgic. His voice cracked, just barely. He had grown up with his shaman and she had become a part of his family. The thought of losing her was a wound he had not prepared for.
“Your old shaman is over five hundred years, and that means she uses too much power to be sustained in this realm but don’t worry. Oriana’s power is stronger than any shaman the werewolves have ever seen. She has lived in both worlds, tasted death, and now has a white wolf. She is one of a kind. So, are you ready to break the bond with Sera, Ravyn?”
Ravyn nodded but the shaman turned to Voren. “Then you should both reject Sera.”
“No.” Voren refused, his voice sharp and absolute. “Why can’t you just break their bond like you did with me and Liah?”
The moon goddess smiled, her expression gentle but knowing. “There is no time, Voren. You have to trust me.”
“No.” Voren refused again, his jaw clenching, his arms tightening around Seraphine. But Seraphine cupped his cheeks in her palms, her touch warm and gentle, her eyes soft with love and trust.
“V, let’s trust the moon goddess, okay?”
Voren’s teeth gritted together, the sound of enamel grinding against enamel echoing in his skull. Then he turned to Ravyn, his gaze hard and unyielding.
“Fine, we do it on three. Two, One, Zero. We reject Sera as our love and lust mate.” The two men said together, their voices rising in unison. Seraphine smiled, the expression bittersweet on her lips.
“I accept both your rejections.” All three threads dissipated instantly, the crimson bonds snapping and fading into nothingness, relieving them of the love and lust bond.
“Everyone.” The moon goddess’s voice echoed through the pack walls, commanding and absolute.
“The new mate bond is about to take effect. If you aren’t mated to anyone, don’t worry. It only means your mate isn’t here.”
She began to explain, her voice carrying across the clearing like thunder rolling over distant mountains.
“However, as soon as you meet your mate, the bond will activate, and your wolves would recognize them. If you are mated to a human, they will feel the bond as love at first sight. Should anyone reject their fated mate for a good reason, then the person would find their second chance mate after six months when their wolves have healed from the pain of rejection.”
The music had stopped at the sound of her voice, and all attention focused on her. They were surprised by the change in her appearance. She looked so regal like the goddess she was.
Power radiated from her like heat from a fire, and every wolf present felt the weight of her presence.
“You all did not feel the pain of rejection with the fake bond but now, you shall feel the real bond. The rejected one might immediately be mated to someone else, depending on the circumstance or the availability of the second chance mate. In the worst case scenario, six months is enough time for your wolves to heal to be mated to somebody else.”
No one objected so the moon goddess announced, her voice carrying the weight of absolute authority.
“She-wolves, separate yourselves from the werewolves and put on your blindfolds.”
Just as Voren and Seraphine were about to separate, the moon goddess appeared beside them, her presence a sudden warmth in the cool night air.
“Prepare for the final battle and test of your love. The Lycans would not attack the way you expect.”
She disappeared before either of them could ask any question and it was not just her. The shaman was gone too. Voren was too saddened about the leaving of the shaman to think about whatever the Lycan’s were planning but Oriana’s voice rang through the pack ground, sharp and commanding.
“Separate fast.”
Seraphine looked at Voren one last time, her eyes holding his, a silent promise passing between them. Then she made her way to the pack of she-wolves and put on her blindfold.
Voren did the same.
The moon was turning red, the crimson light bleeding across the sky like a wound. Expectations were high, hearts pounding, breaths held. Oriana lifted her gaze to the red moon, her voice carrying across the clearing.
“It’s here. If you accept your mate, remember to mate and mark them tonight. May the moon goddess pair the rightful mates to each other.”
The elders swiftly removed chairs, allowing the mate bond to do its work. In less than ten minutes, all movement had ceased with wolves growling, their voices rough and primal. “Mate, mine.”
The difference in both bonds was clear. Voren never saw Bloodfang this overjoyed when he growled, the sound rumbling through his chest like thunder. “Mine, she’s mine.”
