Chapter 748 The extent I would go to prove my love for you
The corner of Voren’s lips twitched as he watched the video, his expression unreadable, cold as stone. Five rogues were sexually abusing Cleopatra.
Dean was trying to fight them off, his movements desperate and clumsy, but exhaustion set in and he was overpowered by the rogues.
They stripped him naked, and when they saw that he did not have a manhood, they mocked and tortured him, their laughter echoing through the darkness, as those abusing Cleopatra continued.
Her screams tore through the woods, raw and animal, but to the rogues, it sounded like music. A symphony of suffering.
“You have no gold, no money, so shut up. Your fucking body is your payment for rent in the outlands.”
Even as Cleopatra was unconscious, a sixth rogue climbed on top of her. It was not common to see beautiful pack-borns at places like this, and every rogue wanted a taste. They were like starving dogs presented with fresh meat, and they would not be denied.
Voren dialed the number of the leader of the outlanders and spoke coldly, his voice devoid of emotion. “They are not my business.”
“Then they are dead.” The outlander responded before ending the call.
Voren contemplated showing the video to Seraphine, asking instead, “Do you want to see what is going on with Cleopatra and Dean?”
“Maybe.” Seraphine answered as Voren passed the phone to her.
She could not watch for more than five seconds, her stomach turning, her eyes recoiling from the screen. She passed the phone back to him. “Disgusting.”
Voren deleted the video, at the same time another one landed. This time, Dean tried to push the next rogue off Cleopatra and was stabbed multiple times, the blade sinking into his flesh again and again. When they realized he was dead, they argued among themselves.
“What if any of the packs come to claim him?”
“If he was valued by the packs, he would not be here in the outlands alone.” Another one argued.
“Let us dismember him before cremating his body. Even if someone caught us in the process, they will not recognize him.”
Everyone agreed with the last suggestion, as Dean was dismembered and burned to ashes. In the process, Cleopatra woke up and the sight of seeing Dean’s body being dismembered caused her to faint. This time, she did not wake up again and was dismembered and burned too.
This was the reason Voren banished them. He knew the rogues would not have mercy on pack-borns. The outlanders on his payroll would only protect those Voren authorized them to protect. It was a cruel calculation, but it was justice in its own way.
Even Cleopatra and Dean knew something like this would happen, which was why they preferred death over being in the outlands. They got death, but in the most shameful way.
“They are dead.” Voren said to Seraphine. “But I know you would not want to see how.”
Seraphine agreed with him, her voice quiet. “Their betrayal was disgusting. Good thing we allowed the rogues to take care of them.”
She could not imagine a man raising a daughter and turning her into a mistress. Sadly, the innocent daughter grew to enjoy it so much that she even wanted to set up her mate to reject him and continue with the shameful relationship. The depths of their depravity were beyond comprehension.
By the time they arrived at the pack, it was quiet, and they used the secret entry to Voren’s special hideout. The sight of it brought so many memories, the air thick with the ghost of moments past. Voren teased her, “Do you remember when we made love here under the moonlight?”
Seraphine’s cheeks turned red at the remembrance as Voren pulled her to his chest. “I was thinking that we recreate that memory.”
She should have known that Voren was not going to allow her to just sleep. Of course he had his own plans. However, their time spent at this hideout this time was different.
Being just the two of them with no disturbances, it was purely cooking for themselves, making love, and resting as much as they could, swimming under the waterfalls. The world outside ceased to exist and they even let out their wolves a few times.
During their fifth night at the hideout, Seraphine rested her head against Voren’s chest as they watched the stars from the rock on which they sat. The sky was a canvas of diamonds, and the silence was complete.
“You know, I used to make wishes under the stars a lot.” Seraphine began, earning Voren’s full attention. “And?”
Seraphine smiled, a soft, wondering thing. “I never imagined it, but you answered every one of those wishes without even knowing.”
Voren smiled broadly and kissed the top of her head, his gaze not leaving the stars. “Well, I used to dream of moments like this when I prepared this place, though I felt by then that it was impossible. If not for the moon goddess, I would not have known that seven was a special number to you. It brought you to your senses even under the spell.”
Seraphine’s smile broadened, though a shadow flickered behind her eyes. “Espe and Bryan are seven now. It is indeed perfect to have them both together, but I am worried about Bryan.” She said honestly.
Voren smiled, understanding. “Because he carries Daisy and Raul’s DNA?”
Seraphine smiled and nodded, her worry etched into the lines of her face. “Yes. For Cleopatra to turn out the way she did after Cassandra raised her…”
“No, babe, do not think like that.” Voren’s voice was firm, anchoring her. “Cleopatra got rotten because of Dean. I am not like him, and Bryan would turn out perfect. Because of his DNA, I am not sure of the wolf he would possess, but physically, we shall give him our best.”
Seraphine tore her gaze away from the stars and looked into his eyes, her soul laid bare. “I love you so much, V. I would have never tasted this side of life without you.”
“You have no idea how happy I am because you chose me, Sera. And you have no idea the extent I would go to prove my love for you.”
His words touched her soul, and their lips pressed together under the moonlight, a seal on a promise that would never be broken.
The next day at night, they finally returned to their suite when the pack was asleep. The world was quiet, the corridors empty. At dawn, Voren opened the closet to change into training clothes, and stopped in his tracks. His hand froze on the handle, his body going still.
Confusion clouded his mind, his brow furrowing. “How did all these get here?”
