Seraphine woke up feeling energetic, her body humming with a vitality she had not felt in months. But disappointment quickly tempered her joy when she realized Voren was already gone.

The space beside her was empty, the sheets cold, and she missed waking up to his side as they did at the hideout, during the most precious parts of their honeymoon.

The mornings had been hers, lazy and warm, wrapped in his arms, and the absence left a sharp ache in her chest.

Now, they were back to pack activities, and Marsha’s voice was a clear reminder, cutting through her thoughts. ’Now, I get to have a break. Your energy level is high, so we shall reserve ours for the third trimester.’

Seraphine could not agree more. She had so much energy that made her feel like she could lift a car, like she could run for miles and never tire. ’Great. I should join training then. Besides, I miss my man.’

Marsha laughed in her mind, the sound warm and familiar. ’Yeah, let us go. I miss Bloodfang too, though we communicated just an hour before they left for training. I never thought you could be this love drunk.’

Seraphine laughed. She never imagined it herself, that she would love again, and this time so intense, so consuming, so utterly complete. She loved Voren so much that she was certain she could do anything for him. Anything at all. The feeling filled every corner of her heart until it overflowed.

After freshening up, she arrived at the gym and was not surprised by the stares. She had not been at training for almost a month, so it felt a bit odd, like stepping into a world she had briefly forgotten.

This morning, her bump had also increased, but it was not too bad, and her outfit hid it quite well.

“You should be resting. What are you doing here?” Voren asked as soon as she reached him, but she could feel from the bond that he was rather excited to see her. His eyes betrayed him, bright with joy that made her pulse skip.

Seraphine shrugged, a playful smile on her lips. “Second trimester is the most energetic time of pregnancy. I never thought I would experience a double dose after how my first trimester turned out.”

Voren raised a brow, multiple lovemaking ideas already flooding in as he leaned in, pulling her by the waist. His voice dropped to something low and intimate that sent heat racing through her. “Does it mean we get to try other mating techniques?”

Seraphine felt the heat rising from her neck to her face, a flush that had nothing to do with the gym’s warmth. “V, you are so shameless.”

“Well, I saw the things you bought for me, and I love them. Thank you.” Voren acknowledged before adding, his tone turning playful and hungry. “This is not how I wanted to thank you anyway because I will wear those boxers for you to see. From the looks of it, my manhood might just turn harder, and you will have to make yourself available.”

This time, Seraphine punched him playfully on the chest, her cheeks burning. “You are impossible.”

Voren laughed so heartily that everyone in the gym was stunned, their heads turning, their eyes wide. But his voice lowered when he spoke so only she could hear, full of warm affection. “Bear in mind that you made me this way. And besides, I never received an alert, so where did you get all that money to spoil me?”

Seraphine lifted her chin and stared playfully into his eyes, her confidence radiant. “I have my ways, V. Changing my password, you cannot force me to spend your money.”

Voren’s expression turned sorrowful, a dramatic pout that made her want to laugh and kiss him at the same time. “But I will love it if you do. And oh, the password is my birthday. I would just love for you to spend money, that is all.”

The way he said it made it impossible for Seraphine to refuse. “Fine, I will spend your money. But if I am preparing a surprise for you, I use my money. Are we good?”

“Sounds better.” Voren said and leaned in for a kiss, his eyes soft with love.

Seraphine turned her cheek to him, her hand pressing against his chest. “V, we are at the gym. Can you get serious? You are a King now.”

Voren frowned, his brow furrowing with genuine confusion. “Is there a rule against being intimate with my wife at the gym? What is a king title anyway? My wife is my everything.”

Seraphine felt helpless against this lovesick man. Ever since the restoration of the bond, she was seeing so many sides to Voren she never saw before.

He was softer, warmer, more playful. He was hers, and the knowledge made her heart swell until it ached with happiness.

“Alright, can we train together? The last time you trained me was in the human world.”

Voren froze and pulled away, his playful expression gone, replaced by something hard and unyielding, pure protectiveness flooding his gaze. “No, I will not train with you. In fact, train on your own. Nobody gets close to you.”

Seraphine pouted, her lips curving into a disappointed arc. “That is not fair. Do you think I am weak?”

“No. But you are delicate now because of the twin pups.” Voren reminded her in case she had forgotten, but she insisted, her voice rising with determination and a spark of fire.

“I feel more energetic than I did even without pregnancy. Trust me, I can handle it.”

Voren shook his head, his jaw tight. He did not know how to go soft on anyone during training, and the fact that Seraphine’s bump was not big would make him forget that she was pregnant. He could not risk it.

The thought of harm coming to her or their pups made his chest tighten with fear.

“Do not worry. We shall train together every day after you deliver our pups, but not today.” He turned to the warriors in the gym, his voice sharp and commanding. “Are you all done having the fun of watching my intimate moments with my wife? Make sure you do not slack behind.”

The sudden chill in his tone got everyone immediately finding something to do before he instructed, “Pair up in threes. Two attackers, one defender. All…”

He did not get to finish when a kick from Seraphine sent his head to the side, a blur of motion he did not see coming.

Before he could recover, she jumped and sent another kick to his chest, sending him tumbling backwards, though he did not fall. His feet caught him at the last moment, his body reacting on instinct, shock and pride warring inside him.

Seraphine landed on her two legs and glared at him, her eyes blazing with challenge and fierce energy. “You still think I am not ready?”
