Chapter 276
“Can you stop asking me if I ‘dare’ to do things? Is there anything I don’t dare to do?”
The kick was harder than intended. Anna clutched her stomach, trembling with a mixture of pain and rage.
“You deliberately sent me that photo last night
“I sent it, but I didn’t make you go sleep with another woman’s husband!”
“You provoked me, and you broadcast it!”
“Maybe you shouldn’t be so easily provoked!”
She had done it on purpose. She knew exactly what Anna’s trigger was: Penelope herself.
After sending the photo of the wedding bed, she had added a text: The man I couldn’t have, you can’t have either. Someone else gets to enjoy him now.
Anna, who already believed Penelope was still in love with Zebulon, went to the Sullivan house to prove that she wasn’t the one who couldn’t have him, but the one who didn’t want him. While in bed with Zebulon, she had even sent Penelope a photo.
She had texted: See? If I want Zebulon, I can have him. You’re the one who lost.
“Penelope, you will pay for what you’ve done!” Anna seethed.
Penelope raised an eyebrow. “Oh, will I?”
“You work for the KINY Group, don’t you?”
“I do.”
“Then do you know Theodore’s relationship with the KINY Group?”
“I do.” ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ.net
“And do you know my relationship with Theodore?”
“Your brother and Theodore are best friends, which means you have a casual acquaintance with him. Am I right?”
Anna’s eyes narrowed. “This ‘casual acquaintance’ is enough to get you fired!”
“You’re going to be disappointed,” Penelope scoffed.
“Do you have the guts to come with me to see Theodore right now?”
“Right now?”
She was planning on going to see him anyway.
“Are you scared?”
“In that case, I’ll catch a ride with you.”
In the car, Anna was already gloating.
“All it will take is one word from me, and Theodore will fire you. Don’t you dare cry!”
“Just make sure you’re not the one crying.”
“Hah! Penelope, I really, really hate you!”
Penelope thought for a moment. “Because of that Gary guy?”
Anna had mentioned the name before, but Penelope couldn’t place it.
“You don’t have the right to say his name in front of me!”
She wanted to ask what had happened, but it was clear Anna wouldnt tell her. So she te texted her
old senior, Hannan James, who had
been in the same year as Anna.
[Gary? Oh, I remember him. He was the most popular guy in our year.]
Hannah sent several messages. Penelope read through them, getting a general idea, but then another
message came through.
[You know, he dropped out of university because of you. Do you really not
remember him?]
“Because of me?”
As Hannah’s messages continued to come in, Penelope’s confusion slowly turned
into a dawning realization.
But she had been completely wronged.
“We’re here! The Johnson estate!” Anna pulled the car to a stop.
The grounds of the estate were filled
with cars. With the wedding
tomorrow, relatives and friends had
come to help including seve
Theodore’s closest friends.
Penelope got out of the car and started walking toward the house. After a few steps, Anna grabbed her arm.
“This isn’t a public market where anyone can just wander in. Stick close to me,
unless you want to get thrown out!”
Anna shot her a disdainful look and strode ahead.
Penelope rolled her eyes and followed behind.
The front entrance was too crowded, so Anna led her around to a side door.
“Penelope, if you kneel and beg me later, I might consider not having Theodore fire you.”
“He listens to you that much?”
“Of course. I’m Simon’s sister, which makes me his sister too. Of course he listens to me!”
“Well, in that case, I’m going to be very upset.”
…
