Penelope was stuck at Zenith Tech until after ten that night before she finally started to make some sense of things. No wonder the company had been losing money; their product had been stuck in the R&D phase and hadn’t been launched on a large scale. But the technology was mature, the first batch of trial products had received excellent customer feedback, and it was now ready for mass production.
It was at this critical juncture that Zenith Group wanted to ditch the company. Of course Theodore couldn’t accept that. He spent his entire fortune to buy it back, only to sell it to her for a dollar.
The only one who lost out in this deal was Theodore. She was the one who profited.
“Is he really not going to manage Zenith Tech anymore?”
Timothy had been staying with her, working overtime, and she had learned a lot about the company from him.
“No, he won’t abandon it,” Penelope said, organizing the documents and files in her hands. “He’ll be back. He just needs a break. For now, I’ll take his place.”
But if he thought he could live a carefree life like Marico, he was sorely mistaken.
Two weeks later, Penelope had more or less gotten the hang of things. She had held a company-wide meeting and set the work goals for the next six months. With the company back on track, it was time to deal with Theodore.
That day, after picking up the children from school, she found out from Michael where Theodore was messing around and took the kids to confront him.
It was the same nightclub, the same private room, and the same group of men. Michael, Simon, Hamilton, and Theodore were sitting around, drinking listlessly.
“Theo, after spending all this time with you, I’ve practically become a monk, cleansed of all worldly desires,” Michael said, feeling like life itself was meaningless even as he drank.
Simon hadn’t been around as much, but for him, a night out wasn’t a night out without women.
“Should I, uh, call some people over?”
Theodore just grunted, and Simon could only pout. “Back to being bachelors, I guess.”
Hamilton was an interesting case. He was the type to fool around constantly while married, but became a model of celibacy after his divorce. As Simon put it, it was completely backward.
“Theo, are you really okay with letting Marico have Zenith Group?” Hamilton asked with a frown.

“He sold it to his ex-wife for a dollar. Oh, and that dollar in his pocket? That’s the money from the sale.”
Simon and Hamilton were shocked, speechless, and impressed all at once.
“Theo, I’m in awe. We could never reach your level of enlightenment.”
Theodore’s tips curved into a slight smile. He leaned forward to grab a bottle, but just as he was about to take a drink, the door to the room was pushed open. The twins walked in their schoolbags on their backs.
Hubert was oohing and aahing, his eyes wide with wonder as he took in his surroundings.
“So this is a nightclub! It’s my first time here! It looks like so much fun!”
Julian, on the other hand, wore a stern expression. He quickly located Theodore, and his brow furrowed in disapproval.
“Dad, instead of helping me with my homework at night, you come to a place like this. You’ve disappointed me greatly!”
