“What are you doing? Don’t be impulsive!”
Hannah was terrified and quickly waved her hands at Buck’s wife.
“We’re just honest, hardworking farmers who came to the city to provide for our family, but you city folk don’t treat us like human beings! Why is our life so miserable? You’ve pushed us to a dead end!”
Buck’s wife wailed and shouted, quickly drawing a crowd.
Her child was young and clearly frightened, and started crying as well.
“But your husband’s injuries weren’t my fault, I
“I don’t care! You have to give us money! Not just the medical bills, but the compensation too. You promised a million, you can’t go back on your word!”
Hannah had clearly never encountered someone so unreasonable and was at a loss for words.
“I suppose I could pay a portion of the hospital bill

Penelope cut Hannah off, giving her a sharp look. Hannah had paid once, and now they were latched on. If she paid again, they would think this tactic worked and would use it to extort money from her indefinitely.
“You obviously have money! Just a little bit from you could get us through this! But you’re so heartless, you’d rather force us to die! If that’s the case, then I have nothing to live for!”
With that, Buck’s wife tightened her grip on the knife, looking as if she was about to slice her own throat.
But Penelope could see that the folding knife wasn’t even sharpened, and the woman had no real intention of harming herself. She was putting on a big show, but seeing that Penelope wasn’t budging, she was already starting to panic.

Penelope scoffed. “We’ve done nothing wrong, so we’re not afraid of ghosts knocking at our door. Feel free to come find us!”

With that, Buck’s wife gritted her teeth, appearing as if she would truly go through with it.
Hannah was terrified, but Penelope just folded her arms, looking like she was waiting for a show to start.
Just then, someone rushed forward, restrained Buck’s wife, and snatched the knife from her hand.
Buck’s wife took the opportunity to collapse onto the floor, sobbing dramatically “My husband is still in the hospital because of them! We spent all our savings and still can’t pay the bill. We just wanted a little compensation, but they’re using their power to bully us!”
The onlookers, not knowing the full story, began pointing fingers at Penelope.
The man who had intervened was wearing a jacket. He was in his thirties, tall and well-built, with a respectable face-not handsome, but possessing a unique charisma.

Penelope let out a dry laugh. “You must have a lot of free time on your hands.” “You think I shouldn’t have gotten involved?”

gotten involved in this! And since
you’re involved, it’s not our problem anymore!”
With that, Penelope grabbed Hannah and hurried toward the elevator.
