Chapter 655
“It’s just a paternity test, what’s the big deal?” Judy stepped forward, chiding Yvonne. “It’s not that your grandfather doesn’t trust you. He’s just trying to get rid of Penelope.”
After saying that, she turned to Hans.
“Dad, don’t worry. I’ll have Yvonne take the test right away and give you the results as soon as they’re out.”
Hans narrowed his eyes. “Stay out of this.”
“What do you mean, Dad? You don’t trust me?”
“I’ll oversee this test myself!”
At this, the mother and daughter tensed up. If Hans was personally overseeing the test, how could they fake it?
“Grandpa, you just don’t believe me!” Yvonne said, her eyes red.
Hans had navigated the business world for decades; he was no fool. When Yvonne kept using ‘trust’ as a shield, he couldn’t help but become suspicious.
“Yvonne, you know I’ve poured my entire life into you. I’ve been grooming you as my successor since you were a little girl. Have I ever wronged you in any way?”
“If you love me so much, why are you making me take a paternity test?”
“Unless you have something to hide, why wouldn’t you?”
“I… I have nothing to hide!”
“Then do it!”
“No!”
Hans’ gaze sharpened. “Yvonne, I’m giving you one last chance. Are you going to take this test or not?”
Yvonne pressed her lips together. “I’m not doing it!”
Hans froze, his vision blurring. The answer was painfully obvious. The granddaughter he had doted on since she was a child, the one he had cherished and protected, never letting her suffer the slightest grievance, the one to whom he wanted to give everything… wasn’t a Bishop at all.
He… he had been deceived for over twenty years!
Judy clenched her fists. “What the hell does blood matter? Isn’t the twenty plus years of love between you and Yvonne more important? Are you really “to disown.
over a piece of paper?”
Her words were as good as a confession.
Hans’ breath hitched heavily. He grabbed the cup from the table and hurled it at Judy.
It happened so suddenly that Judy couldn’t dodge. The cup struck her squarely on the forehead.
Instantly, blood blurred her vision.
She hurriedly tried to wipe it away, but the bleeding only seemed to worsen.
Yvonne rushed to get the first-aid kit, fumbling for a while before finally managing to stanch the wound.
“Grandpa, I’ve called you that for over twenty years! Does that mean less than a stupid paternity test? Are you determined to destroy our family?” Yvonne screamed at Hans.
“So, when did you find out?” Hans asked Yvonne through clenched teeth.
Yvonne looked guilty, but under Hans’ persistent questioning, she confessed, “I found out six years ago couldn’t accept it at first but. but I thought Grandpa and Dad loved me for who I am, not for whose blood runs in my veins.” Cóntent
“You knew all along, and you helped your mother hide it from us!”
“Our family was perfectly fine! Did you have to tear everything apart?”
“What about your father? Are you telling me his car accident had nothing to do with you two?”
“I…..”
“You old fool, what good will it do you to know every last detail?” Judy cut her daughter off, sneering at Hans. She was done pretending.
“Mom!” Yvonne was startled by her mother’s outburst and quickly shook her head at
her.
“Silly girl, we can’t hide it anymore.”
Judy’s usual deference to Hans vanished, replaced by a face full of mockery. You’re quite the figure, Hans, yet I’ve had you fooled for so long. Sometimes, I almost pity you.”
