Chapter 511
Maria was still talking, her voice filled with righteous indignation.
“That’s the reason. I didn’t want to say it at the time because I wanted to maintain some dignity for both of us, but there was no need. An arrogant person like her will never recognize her own mistakes. She’ll even turn around and slander the innocent party.”
Penelope frowned. Natalie had told her about this incident, and her version was that Maria had been fooling around with Hamilton at the time and used her connection to him to force her way onto Natalie’s set. It was Maria who couldn’t remember her lines. When Natalie tried to help her, Maria humiliated her, saying she couldn’t even keep her own husband’s heart. Natalie had slapped her out of anger.
After Maria finished, the crowd started condemning Natalie, calling her a bully who had abused her power.
“In front of the entire cast and crew, Natalie must have known someone would film it, yet she still hit her. Then she was condemned by the public, her image was ruined, and she eventually disappeared from the public eye. Could she really have been that stupid?” another reporter asked.
Maria shrugged. “Actually, she did threaten people on set back then, forcing them to hand over any videos or threatening them to keep quiet. But there are always people with a sense of justice, people who were fed up with her behavior, so the story still got out.”
“She even threatened people on set?”
“Not only that, she had her bodyguards beat someone up.”
The crowd gasped in shock.
,
Not only did she personally bully a fellow actress, but she also ordered her bodyguards to assault other crew members. This went beyond bullying; this was straight-up gangster behavior.
Penelope gritted her teeth. Maria’s words would surely end up online, sparking another wave of attacks against Natalie.
Natalie had already left the industry, left Orenth, and was living a quiet life in a small town. And still, this woman wouldn’t leave her alone.
“Do you have any proof of what you’re saying?” Penelope couldn’t stop herself from challenging Maria loudly.
Her voice was sharp, and everyone, including Maria, turned to look at her.
Penelope faced the crowd, took out her phone, and pointed it at Maria.
“Ms. Scott, without evidence, what you’re saying could be considered slander.” Maria frowned. “Who are you?”
“I’m… I’m just a bystander, asking a bystander’s question.” She glanced at the people surrounding
Maria-reporters, bloggers, fans net
“When you post your videos you should be aware of this too, right? If it’s true, of course you can report it. But if it’s false, isn’t spreading unverified rumors like this a breach of public decency, or even against the law?”
The crowd was a bit stunned, but someone shouted, “Ms. Scott wouldn’t lie!”
“So she has proof?” Penelope looked back at Maria, and the others followed her gaze.
Maria’s brow furrowed slightly. “Everything I said is true. If you don’t believe me, you can investigate it yourself!”
“So it’s all true, is it? Then let me ask you, Ms. Scott, you just said Natalie hit you because you prompted her with her lines As a supporting actress with only a few minutes screen time, how would you have memorized the lead’s lines well enough to prompt her?”
Maria pressed her lips together. “We shot that scene many times. It’s not surprising that I remembered her lines. Besides, to get those few
minutes right, I familiarized net’
myself
with everyone’s lines in that scene believe that’s the most basic part of being a professional actor.”
“I remember reading some analyses at the time that said in that scene, Natalie had
a lot of dialogue, several pages’ worth, correct?”
