Chapter 501
“Stop! Stop fighting!”
Zebulon had arrived. He yelled at the workers, but no one listened to him.
Just then, he saw a worker who had found a wooden stick somewhere raise it, about to bring it down on Penelope’s head. His brow furrowed, and he rushed forward to shield her.
The stick hit him on the ear before landing on his shoulder, the pain causing him to suck in a sharp breath.
Penelope hadn’t expected Zebulon to rush over and protect her. She gave him a complicated look, then kicked the worker who had attacked her to the ground.
“If you don’t stop now, I’m calling the police!”
Penelope shouted, and Zebulon echoed her. Only then did the workers, who were caught up in the heat of the fight, finally stop.
Just as they paused, news came from the hospital. Buck’s wife had apparently tried to kill herself with a fruit knife in Hannah’s room. Fortunately, hospital security had stopped her, otherwise things would have gotten even worse.
Penelope felt a headache coming on. These people were incredibly difficult to deal with, fearless and acting with a sense of entitlement, as if being blue-collar workers made them infallible.
“You have to pay up immediately, or we’ll be here making trouble every single day!” Darren yelled at Penelope.
Penelope’s face was grim. “How much do you want?”
“One million dollars.”
“A million all for Buck? What do you guys get out of it?”
“Us?” Darren coughed. “We’re standing up for our friend. We don’t want anything!” Really?
Penelope didn’t believe that for a second. The way Darren and his men were acting, like they had nothing to lose, didn’t seem like it was just for the sake of justice.
Penelope’s mind raced as she turned to look at Zebulon.
“They don’t want anything. What about you? And Rebecca?”
A guilty look crossed Zebulon’s face. He hesitated for a long moment before finally speaking.
“I don’t want anything, really. I… I feel terrible about this. It’s just Rebecca, she’s lost her mind, she
“What does she really want?”
“She wants your villa.”
Penelope blinked. “The villa you’re all squatting in right now?”
“Yes. She wants you to transfer the deed to her.”
Penelope scoffed. “Is she insane? Why would I give it to her? You can’t be unaware
of how much that villa is worth, can you?”
It wasn’t a matter of one or two million; that villa was worth tens of millions.
Why on earth would she just hand it over to Rebecca?
Zebulon sighed. “She really has lost it. She said she has to get that villa. She also said she’s in charge of your company’s project now, and if you don’t agree, she’ll make trouble for your company. Shelf drag you until your company is ruined.
Penelope was speechless. First, they orchestrate a conflict between Hannah, the material supplier, and the construction team. Then, they get Buck to cause this incidents which puts rannah in the hospital forcing her to come back. Then they back her into a corner, alto get her villa.
The methods weren’t exactly brilliant, but they were certainly insidious and malicious.
“You don’t really need this house anyway
“So what? That means I’m obligated to give it to you?”
Zebulon lowered his head in shame. “I don’t want your house. It’s Rebecca
“You two are in this together!”
“I… I know you won’t believe anything
I say. But Penelope, I’m sincerely advising you, you’re better off angering good man thama vile one. Rebecca isn’t the same person she used to be. She plays dirty. You should just give her what she wants.”
