Chapter 508
“I miss him too, my precious grandson. Every time I see him, I get the urge to retire
just so I can be with him every day.”
“You’d never be able to leave your career.”
“I love acting.”
“And that’s why I support you.”
Donald patted Penelope on the head. “Thank you for your understanding and support, honey.”
“This stir-fried chicken is pretty good.”
She still couldn’t bring herself to call him ‘Dad,’ so she’d get flustered and awkward in moments like these.
“Oh, right. I have a few properties I want to give you.” As if suddenly remembering, Donald quickly asked his agent to fetch the contracts.
Penelope shook her head. “I don’t want them!”
“You have to take them, or I’ll be upset.”
“You… you should give them to Yvonne.”
“She’s received far more than you.”
Donald placed the contracts in front of Penelope, put a pen in her hand, and told her to sign.
Penelope really didn’t need these properties. When she divorced Theodore, she hadn’t taken a cent from him, but Mr. Johnson had given her half of his shares in the
KINY Group.
These shares brought in tens of millions in dividends each year, making her a wealthy woman in her own right.
But seeing the eager look on Donald’s face, she couldn’t bear to refuse and signed her name. There were several documents, and she signed her name over a dozen times until she was sick of it.
“My lawyer will process this as quickly as possible. He may need your cooperation during the process.”
“Okay.”
The two of them finished every last bite of their takeout. When Donald’s agent came
in and saw the empty containers, he was surprised.
“Mr. Bishop hasn’t been able to eat this much in a long time.”
Donald smiled. “If my daughter ate with me every day, you’d be nagging me to go on a diet.”
The agent immediately turned to
Penelope “Ms. Laurier, you must come more often I’m not worried about Mr. Bishop gaining weight, I’m worried about him not eating properly and upsetting his stomach.”
“Thank you for taking care of him, Lennon.” Penelope stood and shook the agent’s hand.
Having seen them more often, she had become familiar with Donald’s staff.
The gala was starting, and it was time for Donald to enter the ballroom.
Penelope was also leaving, so she walked out with Donald, only to run into a group of reporters. Seeing her and Donald emerge from the same. dressing room, they were bound to ask who she was.
Donald hesitated for a moment before pulling Penelope to his side. “This is my daughter.”
The reporters immediately raised their cameras, but Donald blocked them.
“No pictures of her face. My daughter is not a public figure. Please don’t disrupt her life.”
Donald had a certain standing, and the reporters didn’t dare cross him. Although they knew this was a huge story, they lowered their cameras.
Penelope could guess that she’d be trending online in no time,
vepublic
opinion would explode with discussions about Donald having another daughter besides Yvonne.
It would lead to a lot of speculation, and possibly negative consequences. Donald must have thought of this too, yet he had still acknowledged her identity. Penelope didn’t quite understand his reasoning, but it didn’t really affect her.
After parting ways with Donald, Penelope headed for the hotel exit.
If she drove back to the town now, she could see Hubert before dawn.
But as she reached the elevators, she saw Harold waiting in front of one of the cars.
Which meant… Theodore was here!
The thought sent an instinctive jolt through Penelope, and she quickly ducked out of sight.
And just as she hid, the elevator doors opened, and the person who stepped out was, indeed, him.
