Chapter 568

Natalie’s eyes darted thoughtfully. “It’s fine. It’s not like she can eat me.”
The moment Maria was done with her scene, she spotted Natalie. She struck up a conversation, feigning warmth, and then announced she was treating the entire crew to dinner, inviting Natalie to join.
Natalie smiled faintly. “Of course.”
That evening, Maria booked out a restaurant. The entire cast and crew went, but the director, producer, and a few lead actors were in a private room.
Maria pulled Natalie into the private room as well, insisting she sit next to her.
“Natalie, do you remember? You were always the one treating the crew to dinner. Back then, I was just a minor actress with no standing, just tagging along for a free meal.” Maria poured Natalie a glass of wine. “Consider this my way of paying you back. Don’t hold back.”
Natalie accepted the glass and smiled. “Yes, how the tables have turned. You never know who will have the last laugh.”
She clinked her glass against Maria’s and drained it in one go.
Maria’s smile faded slightly, but she also finished her drink.
“But someone who’s already out of the game has no right to talk about winning or losing.”
“Someone who’s out can still get back in on their own merit.”
“Ha, and you have that merit?”
Natalie blinked. “How do you know I don’t?”
Maria’s lips tightened as she refilled Natalie’s glass. “If you still want to act, I could put in a good word for you with Hamilton. But what you did back then made him so angry… I don’t think he can ever forgive you.”
“What did I do?” Natalie raised an eyebrow.
Maria feigned surprise. “What you did? You’ve forgotten?”
“I really can’t seem to recall.”
“Do you really want me to say it out loud?”
“Go on.”
“You cheated on your husband. Oh, but I suppose not everyone here knows about that. Should I lower my voice?”
“Cheated on my husband?” Without
waiting for Maria to lower her voice, Natalie exclaimed loudly, and just as shee everyone in the
room turned to look.
Maria narrowed her eyes. “You really have no shame, do you?”
“I was the one who was cheated on. What shame do I have to feel?”

“Hamilton is my ex-husband. Didn’t everyone know that?”
“Why are you bringing up Hamilton
“Am I not allowed to? Oh, right, he’s your boyfriend now! But wait, wasn’t he also your boyfriend when he was still my husband?”
“Don’t talk nonsense!”
“So the person who cheated during the marriage, or at least cheated first, was Hamilton, wasn’t it?”
Seeing the gossip-hungry looks on everyone’s faces, Maria quickly tried to stop Natalie from saying more.
“You always did love to joke around. Here, let me pour you another drink.”
Maria poured her another glass, and Natalie simply smiled and drank it.
Seeing her drink, Maria quickly poured another. Glass after glass, it was obvious Maria was trying to get her drunk.
Natalie decided to play along. After several more glasses, she pretended to be drunk.
“Let me take you to the lounge next door to rest for a bit.”
Maria helped Natalie up and guided her to the adjacent lounge. Seeing her collapse onto the sofa in a drunken stepor, Mariälet out a cold laugh.
“Natalie, you started this. Don’t blame me for being ruthless!”
Soon after Maria left, the director of the film, a sleazy man in his forties, walked in, rubbing his hands together. When he saw Natalie lying- on the sofa, a lecherous smile spread across his face.
