Chapter 1025
Back in Seaborne, Stella was taken straight to Amos’s residence.
It was also the first time she met ivy Chandler, the first woman Aaron had ever loved.
Ivy was beautiful, with long golden hair styled in loose curls.
Especially when she smiled.
No wonder Aaron had never been able to let go after all these years. Even now, the mere thought of Ivy was enough to make him
want to go after Amos.
If Stella were a man and someone had taken such a beautiful woman from her, she would probably have lost her mind too.
“So you’re Aaron Hogarth’s sister,” Ivy said. “You don’t look anything like that bastard.”
She insulted Aaron without the slightest hesitation, even though Stella was his sister.
Stella said nothing.
But the words were strangely satisfying to hear.
Ordinarily, she might have defended her own family.
Unfortunately, Aaron truly was a bastard.
She could not find a single reason to defend him.
“All right, sweetheart,” Amos said as he slipped an arm around Ivy’s shoulders. “Evan just got his wife back. Let’s give them some space.”
Then he led Ivy away.
Stella frowned instinctively at his words.
But the two of them were already gone.
That left only Stella and Evan.
Evan was standing on the balcony taking a call, his expression grim.
A few moments later, he ended the call and came back inside.
He glanced at Stella sitting on the couch.
She ignored him and let him stand there looking furious.
She had no idea what had been said on the phone.
But anything capable of provoking Evan had to involve either him or her.
And when it came to the two of them, Felix and Aaron were the most likely causes.
Evan did not speak, so neither did Stella.
In the end, he was the first to lose patience.
“Your brother is going to marry Yara.”
Stella’s fingers tightened around her phone.
She did not look up
“What does that have to do with me?” she asked coldly.
“He’s your brother.”
Stella raised her eyes and stared at him in silence.
Something about her gaze made Evan uneasy.
“You…”
“Are you falling back into your old habits again, Evan?”
Did he have to say the one thing she least wanted to hear?
She had spent so much effort trying to sever every emotional tie between herself and Aaron
And now Evan had reminded her that Aaron was her brother.
What was that supposed to mean?
Was he telling her that no matter how hard she tried, she would never be free of Aaron because they shared the same blood?
Evan froze.
Then he remembered what Amos had told him.
Stella had spent the past several months trying to draw a clear line between herself and Aaron.
She probably did not want to hear anyone call her his sister.
But still…
“Aaron wants to marry Yara, and you’re telling me because of what?” Stella demanded. “Do you expect me to stop him? Do I look like I have that kind of influence over him?”
The news itself had surprised her.
As far as she remembered, Aaron already had a fiancée chosen for a political marriage.
She had never cared enough to find out who the woman was.
But given Aaron’s position, the family he intended to marry into could not have been ordinary.
Stella had only been away from Eirden for a few months.
She had no idea what had happened during that time or why Aaron had suddenly decided to marry Yara.
But if Evan expected Stella to interfere, he was asking for the impossible.
“You know perfectly well that I mean nothing to him,” she said. “I nearly lost my life because of him.”
Aaron had been willing to hand his own sister over to Litt in exchange for what he wanted.
Who knew what kind of agenda was hidden behind his sudden decision to marry Yara?
