Evan’s grip tightened around the phone.
He wanted to say more, but the line had already gone dead.
Patrick came hurrying downstairs.
Seeing Evan in the car, he stepped forward respectfully. “Sir.”
Evan’s voice was cold. “Why does she know about what I said?”

He meant Stella.
From what Jennifer had said just now, Stella clearly knew everything.
Patrick froze. “Mrs. Wright knows? I didn’t tell her. I can’t even get through to her right now.”

Patrick hesitated, then said, “Could it have been Madam Dora or Miss Fiona?”

He slammed both fists against the steering wheel.

Evan picked up his phone.
He called Dora directly.
It was already past midnight.
It took two calls before she finally answered. “Evan.”
“I’m not divorcing Stella, so stop wasting your time.”

Dora froze on the other end.
She had been half asleep, and hearing him say something like that left her dazed. “What do
you mean?”
“A mother worthy of respect doesn’t go around driving wedges into a younger couple’s marriage.”

That woke her up completely.

That left Fiona so furious she did not sleep all night.

The next morning, Stella woke up refreshed, only to find Jennifer sitting on the bed with a deeply resentful look on her face.
The dark circles under her eyes made it obvious she had barely slept.
Stella blinked. “New bed?”
