No matter where he had arranged for Stella to be taken, Felix would find her eventually

Remi had managed to get Stella out of the estate without raising the alarm.
The timing had worked in their favor, and by the time anyone noticed, they were already gone.
Seymour was waiting outside to pick them up.
But once they were on the road, things became much more difficult.
Checkpoints had been set up everywhere.
Because Stella had avoided both airports and ports the last time she escaped, the roads were being searched especially carefully
now.
Stella sat silently in the back seat.
“Is there another route?” Remi asked Seymour.
They had already tried three back roads, only to find every one of them blocked and guarded
This time, both Felix’s men and Aaron’s people were involved.
They were clearly determined not to let Stella leave Eirden.
The phone in Stella’s hand kept vibrating.
Sometimes it was Felix calling.
Other times it was Aaron.
She ignored every call.
She did not need to answer to know what either man would say.
And right now, she did not want to hear any of it.
Her phone vibrated again.
This time, it was a message from Aaron.
‘Stella, I know you’re angry, but you cannot leave Eirden right now.’
Even through the screen, Stella could picture his stern expression.
Cold and unyielding.
That was not how family was supposed to treat one another.
She did not reply.
“Don’t answer anything,” Remi warned. “No calls, no messages. They could use it to track us.”
“You came willingly, so don’t get Seymour and me caught.”
Coming back for Stella had been a serious risk.
Felix and Aaron were both determined to eliminate any remaining influence Evan’s people had around her.
“Don’t worry,” Stella said. “I won’t put either of you in danger.”
She had chosen to leave with them.
No matter what Felix or Aaron said now, she would not respond.
Aaron’s first message had already been cold enough.
Even if he tried to coax her now, there was little chance she would change her mind.
Another message appeared.
‘I can respect your decision. If you don’t want to marry Felix, we can discuss it again.’
Discuss it again.
Stella almost laughed.
Even now, he was only offering to discuss it.
He had not said the wedding was canceled.
If there was no hidden purpose behind this marriage, Stella would never believe it.
A moment later, Felix sent a message too.
‘If you don’t want to marry me, then forget it. Just don’t go with Evan’s people.”
The message was clearly meant to provoke a response.
Stella knew exactly what would happen if she replied.
So she set the phone aside without touching it again. 1
Seeing that Stella had no intention of answering, Remi finally relaxed.
She had been worried Stella might still be emotionally tangled with Felix.
That she would claim she wanted to leave while continuing to engage with him.
That would have made everything much more dangerous for them.
But from Stella’s reaction to the calls and messages, Remi could see she was decisive once she made up her mind.
And she was.
If Stella had not been so firm, Evan would not have suffered nearly as much because of her refusal to take him back.
