“ I know I was wrong. Please let me go.”

Stella said nothing.

Hearing Ruby beg again, Stella knew she had been pushed to her limit.

“ Unfortunately , I don’t want to let you go.”

“ I’ve paid every price you demanded,” Ruby said, each word strained. “Even my own daughter . Because this was your punishment , I didn’t lift a hand to help her.”

Because Stella had made her move against Summer, Ruby knew there was nothing she could do.

What could she possibly accomplish by protecting Summer now?

Stella was determined to drag her into the abyss and make sure she could never climb back out.

If Ruby helped Summer, Stella’s retaliation would only become harsher.

And Ruby would lose even more.

Stella gave a low laugh.

“Do you even have the ability to help her?”

Ruby fell silent.

Stella’s undisguised mockery drove Ruby’s heart straight to the bottom.

That was right.

Did she still have that kind of power?

No.

She did not.

Even if Summer disappeared in Harbor City tomorrow, Ruby would not be able to do anything for her.

She could not even return to Harbor City now.

Everything there was beyond saving.

And going back was no longer an option.

Ruby had never imagined she would fail this badly.

She had never thought she would one day be defeated by a girl like Stella

“You really are ruthless.”

When she realized Stelia would not budge, Ruby’s voice tuned bitter

“We’re alike in that way.”

Who could be more ruthless than Ruby?

When she went after someone , she never let them a way out either

Those people had probably begged her too

And how had she treated them?

So Ruby calling Stella ruthless now was almost laughable.

Ruby hung up.

Listening to the dead tone, Stella gave a cold smile.

“Begging. Please . ”

Someone like Ruby would never accept defeat gracefully.

Even now , she would only be thinking about how to strike back if she ever found a way out.

That was exactly why Stella could never leave her any room to recover.

Just as Stella was about to put down her phone, it buzzed again.

It was that same unknown number.

This time, it was not another warning to stay away from Felix.

It was a single message.

‘Don’t forget. We’re still married.‘

The moment Stelia read it, her face darkened completely.

With an irritated click of her tongue, she tossed the phone onto the bed and headed into the bathroom.

Warm water ran over her scalp and down her body, gradually wrapping her in heat.

But even in that warmth, she could not shake the feeling that a pair of burning eyes was watching her.

What should have been relaxing only made her more restless.

After her shower, Stella finally reached her limit.

She got dressed and called Gray in.

Seeing how frustrated she looked, Gray asked, “Did something happen?”

“Is there any way to trace a call through this number?”

Stella handed him her phone.

Gray looked at the message, and his expression shifted

Then he looked at Stella’s darkened face

“Is this Evan?”

“Yeah.”

Stella nodded , irritated

That bastard had already run off, yet he still found ways to make her life miserable every chance he got
