In Sevi Valley, Stella finally breathed a little easier after learning that Jennifer had safely left Harbor City.
She had not asked Jennifer to come to her.
For the time being, Sevi Valley could not be exposed under any circumstances.
So even Jennifer had not been allowed to come directly to her.
“Mrs. Wright.”
Remi walked over.
Stella’s expression darkened at the form of address.
Lately, both Remi and Seymour had been calling her that because of Evan.
She had objected more than once.
But it made no difference.
She could protest all she wanted. They would keep calling her whatever they pleased.
Even so, hearing it still irritated her.
“What is it?” Stella asked sharply.
Remi heard the displeasure in her voice and knew exactly what had caused it.
“Amos is making his move tonight.”
Stella’s heart jolted.
She set down her coffee and looked at Remi.
“So soon?”
“General Litt has been demanding more and more from Aaron in exchange for you. Amos believes that if Litt isn’t dealt with soon, there’s no telling what kind of trouble he’ll cause.”
If they wanted to eliminate the threat, they had to strike at its source.
And since Litt was the one putting Stella in danger, he was the one they needed to remove.
Stella had mixed feelings after hearing that.
She had not expected Amos to take the matter so seriously.
“It seems Amos and Evan really were close.”
“They were like brothers,” Remi said.

Stella fell silent.
Brothers.
As close as family.
Evan had once protected Summer because of his bond with Steven.
Now Amos was protecting Stella because of his bond with Evan.
“Amos is married, isn’t he?” Stella asked.
“He is.”
Remi gave her an odd look after answering.
Stella frowned.
“What? Has my being here caused trouble between them?”
She did not want Amos’s wife to suffer because of her.
Summer had already caused Stella enough pain.
She had no intention of putting another woman through the same thing.
“Amos’s wife is the woman your brother used to love.”
Stella stared at her.
The corner of her mouth twitched.
“What?”
Amos’s wife was someone Aaron had loved?
How was that possible?
Wasn’t Aaron involved with Yara?
And if Aaron had truly loved that woman, how had Amos managed to marry her without Aaron trying to
kill him?
Wait.
Stella suddenly understood why Aaron hated Amos so much.
So this was personal.
A feud over a woman.
If that was the case, Amos must have been formidable to have survived until now.

Seaborne might look harsh and desolate, but it was rich in natural resources.
Otherwise, Amos could never have built such a powerful business empire there.
“Your brother would gladly tear Amos apart,” Remi said. “That’s the reason.”
“And Aaron never tried to take her back?”
With his personality, once he fell for someone, Stella could not imagine him letting go easily.
