Stella stayed silent after hearing Felix’s words.
No one would ever force her into another choice again?
But even in what Evan believed were her final moments, even after she was supposedly dead, she had still been used as part of another choice.
Felix sat down beside her when she didn’t respond and took her hand.
“What are you thinking about?”
“I guess I died for a good cause as far as Evan is concerned,” Stella said flatly. “He got to trade me for the Wright family one more time.”
There was no emotion in her voice.
Felix fell silent.

Felix had always known Evan would choose the Wright family.
But when the news actually came, he had still been angry.
Evan really was something else.
Even after Stella was supposedly dead, he had still managed to use her one last time.
What kind of man did that?
If he had even a shred of decency, he never would’ve made that choice.
“Aaron didn’t release the Wright family,” Felix said.
Stella looked at him. “What?”
“They still haven’t returned to Harbor City. He probably found out what happened to your mother. ”
Stella went quiet.
Found out about her mother?
That reminded her of what Evan had said back in Seaborne, that there was more to her
mother’s death than she knew.

At the time, he had probably only said it because he was desperate to save Yara.
Typical.
No matter what the Wright family did, they would always come first to him.
“Then maybe it’s better if Aaron doesn’t let them go,” Stella said.
She had thought about a lot of things during her time at Sima Mountain.
She and Aaron had grown up in completely different worlds.
Naturally, they saw things differently and handled problems differently too.
What Stella had wanted was simple.
She didn’t want Aaron using her.
She was his sister.
She couldn’t accept being used by him.
But perhaps, in Aaron’s mind, he had never seen it as using her at all.
They simply viewed the same things from different angles and dealt with them in completely different ways.
And in the end, Stella had been the one left covered in wounds.
Still, none of that mattered anymore.
Everything between her and the Hogarth family was over.
Everything between her and Evan was over too.
But Felix…
Stella turned to look at him, something unreadable flickering in her eyes.
Felix seemed to know exactly what she was thinking.
He smiled.
“Don’t even think about doing anything reckless. Evan’s suspicious by nature. There’s a good chance he still thinks you’re alive.”
“ So what if he does? Stella Rowan doesn’t exist anymore.”

Aaron had already had her officially registered as deceased in Harbor City.
There would never be any new records attached to the name Stella Rowan again.
Even if Evan suspected the truth, it wouldn’t matter.
She had disappeared completely into the crowd.
Felix suddenly pulled her onto his lap.
“But if you leave me, I’ll tear all this peace apart myself.”
Now that Stella Rowan no longer existed, Felix finally felt as though Stella might truly
become his.
His tone was indulgent, but there was nothing joking about his words.
He had gone to all this trouble to create a peaceful life for the two of them.
Not just for Stella alone.
Stella’s expression immediately darkened.
Felix continued, “You don’t want to get dragged back into that whole mess again, do you? So wherever you go from now on, take me with you.”
Not that he would take her with him.
Not that she had to follow him.
He was asking her to take him.
Stella looked at him coldly. “That wouldn’t do you any good either.”
“I don’t care about what’s good for me. I only want you.”
Stella fell silent.
What a beautiful thing to say.
If he had said those words back in Harbor City, she probably would’ve believed them.
Back then, she had always been vulnerable to Felix’s gentle way of treating her.
