Moran Albright nodded. “Didn’t expect this dump to be so crowded.”
Charlene recognized Moran’s voice right away.
Realizing it was him, she didn’t bother to look up.
Connie and Stewart couldn’t quite place the voice, but the moment someone called out, “Mr. Albright,” they immediately thought of Moran.
They glanced over, and sure enough, it was him. Connie nudged Charlene with her elbow and whispered in her ear, “It’s Moran.”

Whether they showed up or not, Charlene honestly didn’t care.
Just then, Moran spotted them and locked eyes with Stewart.

Watching York chat with Stewart while helping Charlene and Stewart pitch the tent, Moran felt a flicker of surprise. Since when did York get so chummy with them?
York noticed Moran as well.
Even though they weren’t close, everyone moved in the same social circles. Since they’d run into each other, it was only polite to exchange greetings.
York nodded at him. “Mr. Albright.”
“Mr. Watson.” Moran returned the nod. “Taking a little break from work?”
“Yeah,” York replied.
After a bit of small talk with York, Moran greeted Stewart. “Mr. Ferguson.”
Stewart’s response was cool, bordering on frosty. “So it is you, Mr. Albright. What a coincidence.”
Moran smiled thinly. “Quite the coincidence.”
As they spoke, Moran’s gaze drifted to Charlene.

Stewart frowned. “If Moran showed up, I doubt they’d skip out. Maybe they’re just running late.”
York and Gaylord couldn’t hear their conversation, but they could sense Stewart wasn’t exactly thrilled to see Moran.
Not that York or Gaylord were close to Moran either. York said, “Mr. Albright, we’ve got something to take care of. Maybe we’ll catch up later?”
Moran had only stopped to exchange pleasantries anyway. He nodded. “Don’t let me hold you up.”
With that, he turned and walked away. After he’d gone a little distance, he glanced back at Charlene and Stewart.
Noticing York and Gaylord gathering near Charlene and chatting with ber, he simply assumed they were all on good terms. It didn’t cross his mind to wonder further Stewart was stik there, after all. s
