Chapter 839
With the lawsuit hanging over Hawkins Technology, there was no time to dwell on gossip.
Since Axiom Flux Technologies was suing them for damages, they were undoubtedly going to file for an asset freeze.
After reviewing the copy of the complaint, Henley Hawkins immediately contacted his general counsel and legal team. He also summoned the tech department at Hawkins Technology, ordering them back to the office to conduct a full review with Vesta. They needed to compile their development logs, version records, Git commit history, and any other relevant chain of evidence.
Upon seeing the news online, Vesta rushed straight to the company.
However, after pulling an all-nighter with the tech team, a sinking feeling settled in her chest.
Specific, proprietary snippets of Axiom Flux’s code had indeed appeared verbatim in their own software.
They had poached a programmer from Axiom Flux last year, specifically because the tech that programmer had been developing aligned perfectly with their company’s goals.
They hadn’t even given the guy a major role, yet somehow, a portion of the
algorithmic parameters and specific coefficients they were currently using matched Axiom Flux’s down to the last decimal…
Hearing this outcome, both Henley and Maureen Spencer were struck with a sickening wave of dread.
By now, dawn was breaking outside.
No one in the Spencer or the Hawkins family had slept a wink.
Georgina Spencer and Katie Hawkins were anxiously waiting for updates.
When they heard the devastating results, panic set in.
They all knew that if Axiom Flux won the case, they would be on the hook for over two billion dollars in damages.
But their true losses would be far more catastrophic than just the settlement. Once Henley’s accounts were frozen, their cash flow would instantly snap. All the money they had heavily invested would vanish overnight, and they would still be liable for massive compensation payouts to their current business partners.
Maureen’s gaze darkened with grim determination. “Vesta, get in touch with Thorne.”
Vesta knew better than anyone that if they didn’t handle this perfectly, it would spell total annihilation for both families. She didn’t dare waste another second.
Looking at the message she had sent just before midnight-which Thorne still hadn’t replied to-she lowered her gaze a knot fightening, her stomach and dialed his number anyway.
The call went through, but it went straight to voicemail. His phone was off. Vesta hung up and checked her messages. The group chat was dead silent.
In the past, whenever she ran into trouble and couldn’t reach Thorne, she would simply drop a message in the chat and ask Granger Harden or Moran Albright.
But now…
Seeing that Vesta couldn’t reach him, Georgina and Katie grew even more frantic. Rhoda was spiraling into full-blown panic. “Ever since the gala, Thorne hasn’t said a single word. And now we can’t reach him at all. What is he playing at?”
Was he actually planning to break up with Vesta?
Rhoda wasn’t the only one thinking it; the unspoken fear hung heavy in the room.
But…
Maureen stepped in, her voice strained but steady. “He probably has a mountain of fires to put out right now. It’s completely normal that we can’t reach him.”
Everything that happened at the gala had already exploded all over the internet. The Henderson Group, the Henderson family, and all of Thorne’s other business ventures were undoubtedly demanding
answers from him?
Right now, he was likely even more overwhelmed and slammed than they were.
Vesta tried to convince herself of the exact same thing.
Before they could even come to a consensus, the unthinkable happened-Henley realized his personal and business accounts had just been frozen.
But the nightmare didn’t end there. They quickly discovered that Axiom Flux wasn’t just suing Henley Vesta Maureen, and several others had been named as co-defendants in the lawsuit.
Their accounts were frozen, too.
