Chapter 847
“I’m coming,” Granger interrupted smoothly. “If there’s a real issue, having an extra set of hands to help coax her out won’t hurt.”
Hearing that, Charlene didn’t argue further.
Moran, sharing in the concern, trailed right behind them.
Given the urgency of the call, Charlene hadn’t had a chance to press for details. The moment they stepped out of the hall, she pulled her phone back out to get a clearer picture of Jasmine’s meltdown.
The call connected almost instantly.
“What exactly is going on with Minnie?” she asked. “Why the sudden change?”
“Well, actually, Minnie has been acting a little off these past few days-” the butler began.
Before he could finish his sentence, another voice cut in.
“What’s wrong with Minnie?”
It was Thorne.
The butler spun around, startled to see that Thorne had just returned.
Thorne glanced at him suspiciously. “Who are you on the phone with?”
“Charlene,” the butler answered honestly. “I updated her on the situation with Minnie earlier, and she called back to check in because she was worried.”
“Right.” Accepting the explanation, Thorne didn’t ask anything else and headed straight for the stairs. “I’ll go check on her.”
Snapping back to reality, the butler nodded. “Of course.”
Thorne’s broad shoulders quickly disappeared around the corner of the staircase.
As the butler opened his mouth to resume his conversation with Charlene, she beat him to the punch. “Since he’s home, there’s no need for me to come over.”
In truth, she hadn’t paid any attention to Thorne’s whereabouts over the last few days.
She had no idea that he had been away on a business trip ever since Dr. Lucas’s gala.
Earlier, when the butler first mentioned Jasmine refusing to eat, she had asked about Thorne. Hearing he was out of town, she assumed he had just left.
The butler wanted to argue, to urge her to still come, but he knew it wasn’t his place. “Understood,” he sighed. “I’ll keep you posted on Minnie the moment anything changes.”
“Thank you. I appreciate it.”
She hung up the phone and turned back to face Granger and Moran.
Her expression was unreadable. “He’s back. I don’t need to go anymore.”
Both men had already pieced that together from her side of the conversation. “Alright,” Granger agreed softly.
Charlene simply nodded and walked back into the event hall without another word.
They watched her until she

“Let me call and check,” Granger said.
He unlocked his phone to make the call, only to see that Thorne had replied to his earlier text. The message read: Just got back. Almost home.
Skimming the text, Granger dialed his number.
Thorne picked up on the second ring. “Is Minnie doing okay?” Granger asked right away. “Do you need Moran and me to come over?”
“I’m knocking on her door right now, but she’s giving me the silent treatment,” Thorne replied flatly.
He didn’t bother asking how Granger knew about Jasmine’s bad mood. Staring at the heavily shut door, he took a few steps back to give her space You and Moran just focus on whatever you’re doing. Itoyou guys back later.”
“Got it,” Granger said.
Thorne hung up and turned his attention back to the solid wood blocking his way. He rapped his knuckles against it again. “Minnie, if you don’t open this door right now,

Nothing but dead silence.
Thorne raised an eyebrow, shifting his tactics. “Or, maybe I should just call your Mom and have her come all the way back here to deal with you?”
Barely two seconds had passed before the door flew open with a violent bang.
Jasmine stood there in her pajamas, her teeth gritted as she glared up at him. “Don’t you dare!”
Thorne held his hands up in mock surrender. “You caught me. I wouldn’t dare.”
Before she could fire back another angry retort, he scooped her up into his arms, effortlessly carrying his furiously pouting daughter.
