Chapter 865
Shaking off his initial confusion, he reasoned that the phrase ‘family of
homewreckers’ had to be a bizarre typo.
He chuckled and started typing out a message to ask if autocorrect had messed up, but as he reread the hostile text, his smile faltered.
Even if it was a typo, the sheer aggression in the tone meant whatever the guy actually meant to say wasn’t exactly friendly.
A knot of frustration formed in his chest. They had always gotten along great back at school. He couldn’t fathom why they were suddenly attacking him.
Just as he wondered if he had somehow offended them, another message popped up in the chat.
*He comes from a family of homewreckers, of course he has no shame. Remember how he used to brag about his sister and mom like they were saints? Always name- dropping Mr. Henderson. I actually thought his sister was Mr. Henderson’s legit girlfriend. Turns out his sister and mother are just toxic gold diggers who specialize in wrecking homes to climb the social ladder.*
*And yet some people still have the audacity to talk about Mr. Henderson like he’s actually family. That level of shamelessness is honestly unmatched!*
Jacques’s muscles went rigid. He shot up from his bed, his grip tightening around his phone.
At this point, he would have to be an absolute idiot to think it was a typo.
He glared at the screen, his blood boiling as he hammered out a furious reply. *What the hell are you talking about? If you have a problem with me, say it to my face! What kind of coward makes up vicious lies about my mother and sister?*
The response came almost instantly.
*Did you really think paying to scrub the internet would make everyone forget what happened? What, too scared to own up to it? And you’re calling me a coward? You live like a rich little prince because your mom was the other woman who destroyed a legitimate family, and you think you’re a real man? That’s hilarious.*
Jacques’s hand trembled.
He wanted to fire back that it was all pure fiction, but the details were too specific, and their conviction was unnerving. Besides, in a chat this large, someone would have usually stepped in to mediate if these were baseless accusations.
But out of all the classmates in the group, not a single person came to his defense. It was just the three of them typing.
Just as that chilling realization hit him, the first classmate chimed in again.
*Everyone else here despises you, but they’re too scared to speak up. They’re terrified your homewrecking sister is going to get Mr. Henderson to ruin them. Well, I’m not scared. Come at me if you have the guts, you little scumbag!* .net
All the color drained from Jacques’s face.
In that terrifying moment, the reality of the situation crashed over him Everything they were saying… might actually be true.
His mind went completely blank, a suffocating wave of shock leaving him paralyzed.
Snapping out of his daze, he hurriedly opened his social media apps and searched for Thorne and Vesta’s names.
Even though the PR team had clearly
spent a fortune scrubbing the
.n
internet, a few lingering threads and archived posts had survived the
purge.
Five minutes later, Jacques’s grip on his phone went slack. His mind spun, his eyes
wide with absolute, devastating disbelief.
This…
How was this possible?
How could his mother and his sister both be homewreckers?
It… it couldn’t be true.
But the videos and the photos online were damning. There was no way to fake that kind of evidence.
Tears of betrayal stung his eyes.
He scrambled to his feet, clutching his phone, and bolted downstairs.
