Chapter 867
There was so much to handle at Neural Nexus Tech that it was already past three in the afternoon by the time she finished.
Gathering her thoughts, she dialed Coy.
Coy hesitated when he saw the caller ID, but eventually answered. “Ms. Hawkins.”
“Is Thorne at the office?”
Coy paused. “I’m sorry, I’m not at liberty to say.”
Vesta knew immediately that meant he was there.
If he wasn’t, Coy would have just told her.
“I understand,” she said. “Thank you.”
Hanging up, she grabbed her car keys and headed out. It didn’t take her long to pull up to The Henderson Group headquarters.
She stared up at the towering entrance, sitting in her car for a few moments. Slipping on a face mask, she finally stepped out.
The lobby was relatively empty. Despite the mask obscuring her features, the receptionist recognized her the second she walked through the doors.
In the past, she had never felt the need to hide her face here.
They all knew she was wearing it now because she was afraid of being recognized.
Seeing that she was still allowed to enter the building without an appointment, Vesta let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Reaching Thorne’s executive floor, she pulled off the mask and knocked on his office door.
No answer.
She turned the handle. Before she could react, Josh’s voice called out from behind her. “Ms. Hawkins?”
“Yes,” Vesta replied evenly. “Where is Thorne?”
“Mr. Henderson had an urgent matter. He just left.”
Vesta frowned. “Left? When?”
“Ten minutes ago.”
She pressed her lips together. “Is he coming back?”
“I’m sorry, he didn’t say,” Josh replied politely. Meeting her gaze, he
offered, “The reception room is need

He was testing the waters to see if she planned on waiting for him.
Sidestepping the implication, Vesta said, “Sure. Also, could you call Thorne for me?”
Josh knew perfectly well that his boss had been ignoring her calls lately.
He was also painfully aware that Thorne probably didn’t want to see her at all.
Yet, Thorne hadn’t issued any orders to ban her from the premises.
Furthermore, as far as he knew, they hadn’t actually broken up.
As a result, Josh couldn’t entirely figure out where they stood right now.
Which meant he still had to treat her with the utmost courtesy.
However, it was crystal clear that Thorne didn’t want to speak to her on the phone,
so he couldn’t fulfill her request.
He offered an apologetic smile. “I’m
sorry, but Mr. Henderson didn’t

Vesta fell silent for a moment before replying, “It’s fine.”
She walked straight into the

But after quite a while, there was still no reply.
She dialed Coy again. “I’m here, but Josh told me Thorne left just before I arrived.”
Taken aback, Coy said, “Josh is handling the boss’s itinerary right now. I honestly had no idea he left the office so early.”
“It’s okay,” Vesta said smoothly. “Could you try calling him for me?”
“…I’m sorry.”
Vesta didn’t push the issue. “Don’t worry about it.”
She hung up and sent another text to Thorne: I’m waiting at your office. I’ll stay here until you get back.
Setting her phone down, she settled in for a long wait.
