Chapter 879
The Butler smiled warmly. “Ordering Mooncakes is easy enough. Who are they for, Jasmine? Any specific flavors in mind?”
“They’re for Mom!” Jasmine replied immediately. “But as for the flavors…”
A sudden realization hit her-she actually had no idea what her mother liked.
“Ah, they’re for Charlene?” The Butler looked thrilled at the thought. “I know exactly what she prefers. I’ll have someone send over a catalog of designs, and you can pick out the best ones. How does that sound?”
Jasmine nodded eagerly. “Perfect. Thank you.”
The Butler got to work right away.
When the vast catalog arrived, the Butler suggested ordering a variety of flavors to accommodate everyone else in the Ross family as well.
Jasmine thought it was a brilliant idea. In fact, she loved every single design so much she wanted to order one of everything. The Butler had to gently step in. “That might be a bit too much. They won’t be able to finish all that. Five or six boxes
should be plenty.”
“…Alright,” Jasmine conceded.
Once she finalized her selections, she handed the tablet back to the Butler. She turned to head upstairs, only to freeze when she spotted Thorne standing at the landing.
It was impossible to tell how long he had been standing there. Seeing her notice him, he casually asked, “Ordering Mooncakes? None for me?”
Jasmine brushed right past him. “Nope.”
Thorne turned his head to watch her walk away. “Playing favorites, are we?” She ignored him completely and marched straight back to her bedroom.
The following morning, shortly after Jasmine woke up, a delivery arrived from Charlene a beautiful box of Mooncakes accompanied by an exquisite Lunar Goddess and Rabbit Figurine.
Thorne was just coming downstairs and caught a glimpse of the gift box in her arms. Before he could even get a good look, Jasmine clutched the box tightly to her chest and darted back upstairs.
Thorne took it all in stride without uttering a single question. After a quiet breakfast, he and Jasmine left for the main estate.
Back at the main Henderson property, Claudia and Lloyd had already arrived. Terence was also home for the holidays.
When the pair walked in-just father and daughter-Irma pulled Thorne aside white Jasmine was out of earshot. You and Charlene aren’t officially divorced yet,” she scolded. “It’s Thanksgiving Day Couldn’t you have made the effort to go over to the Ross family and bring her back so she could celebrate with Jasmine?”
“She has her own plans,” Thorne replied evenly.
Irma wasn’t having it. “So you didn’t even ask her. Of course she made her own
she’d says! How do you know
no if you actually invited.
ber? She still deeply cares for Jasmine.”
Thorne said nothing.
Irma scoffed, her patience wearing thin. “You just didn’t want to! Stop making excuses.”
Claudia, Lloyd, and Tiffany had clearly overheard the tense exchange and all cast glances their way.
Her anger snowballing, Irma
snapped, “The only woman on your mind is that Hawkins girl! Why dide you even bother coming back here? Why not just march right over and Spend Thanksgiving Day with her. instead?!”
“If I actually did that, you’d be furious,” Thorne pointed out.
Irma was practically shaking. “Get out! If you want to go, then leave! Stop standing here making a mess of my holiday!”
Thorne didn’t leave. Instead, he simply took a seat and calmly went about brewing a fresh pot of tea for his grandmother.
The rest of the family knew the two actually shared a very strong bond. Irma’s threats to banish him to Vesta’s side were nothing more than angry holiday bickering.
In truth, the Henderson family had no clear idea where things currently stood between Thorne and Vesta.
However… given the current state of affairs, a divorce between Thorne and Charlene seemed entirely inevitable.
Thorne showed zero intention of fighting for the marriage, and Charlene was moving firmly on.
Matters of the heart simply couldn’t be forced.
Still…
Claudia leveled a serious look at Thorne. “Even if you are finalizing the divorce, you
need to wait for the dust to settle before making any public moves.”
