“The Wright family’s problems were never yours to deal with in the first place. Whether they’re good people or bad, whether they live or die, none of it should be your responsibility.”
After everything Evan had done, Ivy could not bring herself to sympathize with the Wright family at all.
Perhaps Yara was a good person.
But what did that have to do with Stella?
Was Stella supposed to throw herself into an even more dangerous mess for Yara’s sake?
A dangerous mess.
Yes, that was exactly what awaited her.
Stella could sense that something was waiting for her if she returned to Eirden.
Ivy felt the same way.
Aaron had publicly announced that he was going to marry Yara.
And now this had happened.
Ivy did not believe for a second that there was nothing more behind it.
If even Ivy could see the danger, Evan certainly could too.
If he still insisted on trading Stella for Yara despite knowing that, then Ivy truly would not know what to say about him.
“There’s no need,” Stella said.
“If you’re taken back to Eirden, escaping won’t be so easy,” Ivy warned. “You’ve already gotten away twice.”
If Stella intended to run, now was her best chance.
“I am going to leave,” Stella said. “But I won’t involve you.”
She could still distinguish right from wrong.
She was grateful that Ivy wanted to help, especially when they had only known each other for such a short time.
But Stella would not drag Ivy into the consequences of her escape.
“I’m not afraid,” Ivy insisted.
“Thank you, but i already have a plan”
Ivy might not be afraid, but Stella did not want to endanger anyone else, especially someone who had tried to help her
Remi and Seymour were still unconscious from their injuries
“Stella”
“Don’t worry”
Stella cut her off, then added, “I still need to wait a little longer”
She would wait until Evan finally said aloud the words he had been unable to bring himself to say

When Amos learned of Evati’s decision, he stared at him in disbelief.
“I think you’ve genuinely lost your mind. Do you even understand what you’re doing?”
Evan really intended to exchange Stella for Yara.
Amos had already suspected that whenever the Wright family was involved, Evan could no longer be trusted to put Stella first.
And now it was happening again.
“If Yara stays with Aaron, she’ll die,” Evan said.
“And if Stella goes back, could she die too?” Amos asked.
Evan froze.
The blunt question struck him hard.
He stared at Amos, unable to breathe for a moment.
Amos shrugged.
“You know how Aaron treats her. You’ve seen it yourself.”
“They’re related by blood.”
Aaron would not kill her.
He might drag Stella into some dangerous scheme, but surely he would not go that far.
Amos gave a cold laugh.
“You put far too much faith in blood ties when it comes to families like theirs.”
“If Stella had grown up in the Hogarth family, they would’ve shaped her into someone useful to them from the beginning.”
“But she didn’t grow up there. Turning her into the person they want now won’t be easy.”
If Stella could not offer them what they needed willingly, then they would inevitably force her to make sacrifices elsewhere.
As far as Amos was concerned, no one could imagine what Stella might face if she returned to the Hogarth family now.
Evan pressed his lips into a tight line.
“Whether it’s Aaron or Felix, you shouldn’t place too much trust in either of them,” Amos said.
Neither man was reliable.
There was no way to pr
after this exchange
