Chapter 1080
But both Evan and Amos knew the truth.
The moment Stella left Seaborne, there were things Evan could no longer control.
He had believed he could guarantee her safety.
But could he really?
Not in a place like Eirden.
Things there were nowhere near as simple as he had imagined.
Evan said nothing.
His chest was already tight with panic, and Amos’s words only made it worse.
He remembered all the times he had promised Stella that he would keep her safe.
Now every word felt like a blade cutting into his heart.
Just then, Amos’s phone rang.
It was the person investigating whether another faction had been present that day.
Amos answered.
“Talk.”
The call was on speaker.
“Sir, there was indeed a fourth group at the scene.’
Amos instinctively looked at Evan.
Evan’s gaze locked on the phone.
“Whose people?” Amos asked.
“Silas’s. General Litt’s younger brother.”
Both men froze.
Silas?
Litt’s presence had always been so overwhelming that few people paid attention to his younger brother.
Evan and Amos had overlooked him too.
But no matter how insignificant Silas might have seemed beside Litt, he was still Litt’s brother.
And he had relied on Litt for nearly everything.
Now that Litt was dead, Silas had more reason than anyone to seek revenge.
“You think Silas’s people took Stella?” Amos asked.
If that were true, things had just become far worse.

There was no question how much Silas hated Stella.
The man was obsessive, ruthless, and unpredictable.
If his people had taken her, she might not survive.
“We can’t confirm that he took Miss Rowan,” the caller replied. “But his people were definitely there”
Evan’s face turned deathly pale.
No wonder no one had contacted them with demands.
If Silas had taken Stella, it all made sense.
He would not want money, territory, or any other concession.
He only wanted Stella…
Evan could not bring himself to finish the thought.
All the color drained from his face.
“Understood,” Amos said.
He ended the call and looked at Evan.
Evan had already turned toward the door.
Amos hurried after him.
“Where are you going?”
“To find him.”
He meant Silas.
“Have you lost your mind? You’re just going there alone?”
Silas was almost certainly at his stronghold in the Blackwater region.
Everyone knew what kind of place that was.
Going there now would be the same as charging straight into enemy territory.
And it was Silas’s territory.
Amos grabbed Evan’s arm.
“Calm down.”
“How am I supposed to calm down?” Evan roared. “If Ivy had been taken, could you stay calm?”
He tore his arm free.
Amos’s expression darkened.
“And whose fault is it that Stella was taken?”
What did Ivy have to do with this?

Ivy would never be taken in the first place.
Amos would never allow anyone or anything to make her leave Seaborne.
As long as she remained here, no one could take her from him.
Evan froze.
Amos’s words made his vision darken.
For a moment, he could barely remain standing.
