Chapter 1149
[ 639 words ]
And this was one of those times .
She spoke without the slightest mercy, each word cutting deep enough to make a person’s chest ache.
Stella glanced at Felix.
“Jennifer’s leaving tomorrow. She won’t tell anyone about us.”
Her meaning was obvious.
Don’t touch Jennifer.
As long as Jennifer remained in Sima Mountain, Stella couldn’t be sure Felix wouldn’t lose control and do something to her.
Felix’s grip tightened around his knife and fork.
Then he smiled.
“You’re really that afraid I’ll hurt her?”
Stella said nothing.
Felix continued, “You can’t even give me that little bit of trust?”
Seeing how important Jennifer was to Stella left a bitter feeling in his chest.
Anyone could matter more to her than he did.
And Felix…
No matter how hard he tried now, it seemed impossible to earn even the smallest place in her heart.
Stella remained silent.
Trust?
How could there possibly be trust between them?
People said that when two people truly trusted each other, even after going through terrible things, some part of that trust would remain.
But after everything that had happened between Stella and Felix, there was nothing left to salvage.
Felix put down his utensils.
“I can make sure she leaves safely. But you have to promise me one thing.”
Stella’s expression cooled.
Here we go again.

Men like Felix, people used to getting whatever they wanted, could be unbelievably selfish when it suited them.
They didn’t care how the other person felt as long as they reached their goal.
Felix knew perfectly well how much Stella hated being threatened.
And yet he was still doing it.
“What?” she asked.
“Try to accept me.
His voice softened.
“Try to trust me again.”
There was a hint of pleading in his tone now, something that had never existed there before.
But Felix truly seemed to be running out of options.
Ever since they came to Sima Mountain, there had been almost nothing he could use as leverage against Stella.
And now, finally, there was Jennifer.
So he seized the opportunity to ask for what he wanted.
If you looked at it another way, his request didn’t even sound that unreasonable.
He only wanted Stella to trust him again.
They had already been in Sima Mountain for quite some time.
But instead of warming toward him, Stella had only grown colder.
Felix could feel it clearly.
She was always preparing to leave.
If he hadn’t threatened to expose the truth about them being alive, she probably would’ve walked away without a second thought.
That realization suffocated him.
Stella looked at him without speaking.
Felix asked quietly, “You can’t?”
Stella’s gaze turned icy.
“The way you’re acting right now disgusts me.”
She already hated being threatened.
Now Felix was using Jennifer as leverage to force conditions on her.
Stella had intended to hold back.
But this time, she truly couldn’t anymore.
So she made no attempt to hide her disgust.
Felix froze.
The darkness in his eyes deepened.
Stella looked straight at him.
“Have you ever seen a relationship built like this actually last?”
Constant threats.
Constant pressure.
Did he really think two people could reach the end together like that?
Felix was quiet for a moment.
“I’m sorry. I don’t know what else to do.”
Her words weighed heavily on him.
If he had any other way, he wouldn’t have resorted to this.
Stella said nothing.
Felix looked at her.
“But I still want it.”
Even if she hated him for it, he still wanted what he was asking for.
Jennifer hadn’t left Sima Mountain yet.
And to Felix, this might be the rarest chance he would ever get to make Stella give him what he wanted.
