Chapter 1151
[ 622 words ]
How should she put it?
Amos had lines he wouldn’t cross.
Sure, he could be ruthless sometimes.
But even his ruthlessness had limits.
Aaron and Evan were different.
They might stand at the very top, powerful enough to look down on everyone else.
But once things reached a certain point, they could throw every principle they had out the window.
And then justify it all with a simple, “I had no choice.”
Amos suddenly looked at Ivy.
“Do you think Stella might actually still be alive?”
Honestly, Amos had been at the Blackwater region that day.
He had seen everything with his own eyes.
After that, he had been completely convinced Stella was dead.
But Evan had spent the past few days drunkenly insisting over and over that Stella was still alive.
After hearing it enough times, even Amos was starting to waver.
Ivy said, “Whether she’s alive or not has nothing to do with him anymore.”
Amos went quiet.
Why was she snapping at him?
He wasn’t the bastard who had hurt Stella.
Ivy shot him a look.
“I’m telling you now, stop discussing Stella with Evan.”
“She’s dead. At least let her rest in peace.”
Truthfully, Ivy also had a feeling Stella might still be alive.
After all, she and Stella had made an agreement before.
Stella had supposedly died before the day they had agreed on ever came.
That alone made Ivy suspicious.
Maybe Stella really was still somewhere in this world.

But Evan could never be allowed to become certain of that.
If Stella was truly gone, then it was tragic.
But if she was still alive, Ivy hoped she was finally getting everything she wanted.
And whatever Stella wanted clearly didn’t include Evan.
So the best thing would be for Evan to believe she was dead.
Otherwise, if he started searching for her again, wouldn’t Stella have to spend the rest of her life hiding?
Amos nodded slowly.
“Exactly.”
“So you need to make Evan believe she’s dead.”
Amos blinked.
“Wait. Isn’t she already dead? What am I supposed to…”
“He doesn’t believe it,” Ivy cut in. “You need to make him believe it.”
Only once Evan truly accepted Stella’s death would he finally stop.
And if Stella really was alive somewhere, at least then she might have a chance at some peace.
Amos finally understood what Ivy meant.
“Alright. I’ll make sure he believes it. Otherwise, none of us are going to get any peace either.”
Evan kept dragging everyone into his chaos.
Even though the whole mess technically had little to do with Amos and Ivy, they were still being worn down by it.
Ivy nodded.
Just then, one of Amos’s men hurried over.
“Sir, Remi is gone.”
Amos and Ivy both froze.
Remi?
She had been badly injured for a long time and had only recently recovered enough to move around.
And now she was gone?
Remi was one of Amos’s most capable people.
Someone with her skills was rare even in all of Seaborne.
And now she had simply disappeared?
“She left a letter.”
The man handed Amos the note.
Amos opened it.
There was only one short sentence inside.
“I don’t want to be an assassin anymore. I’m going to chase my dreams.”
That was it.
One clean sentence, and she was gone.
Amos stared at the note.
Unbelievable.
He looked genuinely annoyed.
“Don’t you think Remi’s being a little irresponsible? Who just leaves a note like this and disappears?”
Ivy took the letter from him and read it.
The moment she saw what Remi had written, she burst out laughing.
Amos looked at her.
Ivy grinned.
“She really does whatever she wants, doesn’t she?”
