Chapter 1166
Vivian was even more displeased by Jennifer’s attitude.
What mother didn’t think her own son was the best?
Hearing Jennifer insist so firmly that she wanted to leave Leon only made Vivian angrier.
At this point, it seemed like everything Jennifer did rubbed her the wrong way.
“You want to leave? Fine.”
“I’ll send you away myself.”
“No.”
Jennifer refused without even thinking.
Let Vivian arrange her departure?
That wouldn’t be sending her away.
That would be sending her straight to her grave.
Jennifer might not be the smartest person in the world, but even she knew by now that Vivian and Monique
wanted her dead.
Vivian’s face darkened further at the immediate refusal.
“You don’t want to leave?”
“I do. Just not with your help.”
Of course Jennifer wanted to leave.
She genuinely wanted to stay far away from Leon.
She needed to.
Vivian gave her a cold look.
“Stella helped you get out of Harbor City last time. What are you going to do now?”
Stella was dead.
Jennifer had practically no one left to help her.
And Vivian knew exactly how obsessed her son had become with Jennifer.
Under these circumstances, there was no way Jennifer could slip away from Leon on her own.
“That’s none of your concern.”
Jennifer looked at her coolly.
“Instead of coming here to look down on me and humiliate me, maybe you should spend that energy figuring out how to get Leon to marry Monique.”

“You’ve already spread the news this far. If he refuses to marry her…”
Jennifer paused, then gave a mocking little laugh.
If Leon flat–out refused when the time came, both the Redson family and the Hayes family would be publicly humiliated.
Vivian’s expression sank.
Jennifer smiled.
“Whose brilliant idea was this anyway?”
The sarcasm in her voice was impossible to miss.
Because wasn’t this a terrible plan?
Whether Jennifer was in Harbor City or not, there was no way Leon would willingly marry Monique right
now.
Yet the Redson family had gone out of their way to make the wedding public.
Apparently, they hadn’t considered that the bigger the spectacle, the bigger the embarrassment if it all fell apart.
Vivian stared at her dangerously.
“Whether it was a bad idea or not, we’ll see soon enough.”
The Redsons cared deeply about the family’s reputation.
Leon included.
That was exactly what Vivian and his grandparents were counting on when they made such a public
announcement.
On that point, they were confident.
Jennifer gave a small shrug.
“Then I guess we’ll see.‘
“But before that, you need to leave,” Vivian said. “The wedding is in two weeks. I want you gone within ten days.”
This time, the Redson family really was rushing things.
And just as Jennifer had said, from the outside, the whole plan did look reckless.
But they didn’t have much choice.
The last time Leon and Jennifer had ended up expecting a child together, it had scared the family badly enough that they still felt uneasy whenever they thought about it.
Vivian looked Jennifer over and added pointedly,

“You should take better care of yourself in the meantime. A woman needs to protect her own body.”
Her voice turned openly insulting.
“Make sure you don’t end up pregnant again.
Jennifer’s eyes turned icy.
Pregnant again?
Well, Vivian wasn’t entirely wrong to worry.
Leon clearly had that idea in mind.
He hadn’t used any protection at all.
The Redson family really did seem incapable of coming up with a sensible plan.
Leon included.
The last pregnancy had already proven that Jennifer wasn’t the kind of woman who could be tied down with a baby.
And yet Leon still wanted to try the same thing again.
