Chapter 1193
[ 693 words ]
“Still, I can understand why he went that far,” Amos said.
A man like Aaron would never let his feelings become a chain around his neck.
Whatever he felt for Yara, it wouldn’t make him spare the Wright family.
After all, they were responsible for his mother’s death.
And Stella had only just died too.
With old hatred and fresh grief piled together, even if Aaron loved Yara more than anything, there was no way he would let the Wright family off.
“Then I guess there’s absolutely no chance for him and Yara anymore, right?”
Ivy had never particularly liked Yara.
But right now, she couldn’t help feeling a little sorry for her.
Getting tangled up with a madman like Aaron could mean a lifetime of darkness.
Amos shook his head.
“Whether there’s a chance between them isn’t exactly up to Yara.”
They had known for years just how domineering Aaron could be.
Back when Amos had tried to get Ivy away from him, Amos had nearly paid for it with his life.
Thankfully, they had managed to escape in the end.
Ivy narrowed her eyes at him.
“You’re not thinking about going back to help Evan now, are you? I’m warning you, if you get anywhere near Aaron right now, you’re walking straight into your own grave.”
That was simply the truth.
Aaron had already gone this far.
Anyone who got in his way now was practically asking to die.
“Not a chance,” Amos answered immediately.
Even when Aaron was relatively sane, getting involved with him had cost Amos dearly.
Going anywhere near him now that he had completely lost it?
That would just be volunteering to die.
The problem was Evan.
He was already gathering men in Seaborne and quietly making arrangements to head to Mieda.
Ivy nodded.

“Good. As long as you know better.”
She had genuinely been worried Amos might suddenly decide loyalty mattered more than common sense and charge straight into this mess.
Aaron was not someone you casually went up against.
Amos frowned.
“What is wrong with Evan anyway? Why does he keep doing the most irrational thing possible?”
This time, it was Aaron.
Before that, it had been Stella:
He always talked about how much he loved her.
But whenever Stella and the Wright family ended up on opposite sides, Stella was always the one he sacrificed.
Who could possibly put up with that?
What good was love like his?
Ivy snorted.
“That whole family is rotten to the core.”
Amos blinked.
“What?”
Ivy looked at him.
“Haven’t you noticed? The entire Wright family is awful.”
After getting to know Stella, Ivy had learned plenty about the Wright family too.
They had looked down on Stella because of her background, so the entire family had treated her like she was
beneath them.
And it wasn’t only Stella.
They treated outsiders the same way.
There wasn’t a decent person among them.
So how much better could Evan really be when he had grown up as one of them?
Amos scratched the back of his head and wisely said nothing.
Ivy had always had a viciously sharp tongue.
And worse, she usually hit exactly where it hurt.
After all these years, Amos was used to it.

“Evan is probably going to contact you,” Ivy warned. “Whatever happens, you are not getting involved.”
Amos nodded rapidly.
“I know, I know. You know me. When Aaron is involved, I’ve always been very good at staying far away.”
He had been that way before.
He was that way now.
And he fully intended to stay that way in the future.
Ivy had only managed to enjoy a few peaceful years by his side.
If Amos went charging back into Aaron’s path now, he would be dragging Ivy’s peaceful life into the chaos
with him.
And Aaron Hogarth was a complete lunatic.
