Chapter 1242
[ 602 words ]
Remi had only one answer.
Run.
She knew Aaron had enough power and influence that sooner or later, he would find out they were hiding near Sima Mountain.
But as far as Remi was concerned, that didn’t mean Stella should simply give up on herself.
So what if Aaron could reach almost anywhere?
Stella still had the right to keep fighting for her own life.
That night, Remi and Stella lay in the same bed.
Ever since Felix left, Remi had gone right back to her old habits from Sevi Valley, shamelessly taking over half of Stella’s bed.
Remi turned toward her.
“I really don’t think your brother would do anything to his own sister just because of a woman.”
Aaron had always been ruthlessly clearheaded.
He had never been the kind of man who let emotions control his decisions.
Stella said nothing.
Wouldn’t he?
She honestly didn’t know.
“But he’s given me up before.”
“That was because your interests conflicted with the family’s. That’s different.”
When interests were at stake, Aaron was always clearheaded enough to choose whatever benefited him and the Hogarth family most.
But a woman?
Remi simply couldn’t imagine any woman having enough influence to sway his judgment.
So as far as she was concerned, Yara trying to use Aaron to make Stella pay for what happened was never going
to work
Still, Remi frowned.
“But I wouldn’t gamble on it either. What if your brother really has fallen for Yara this time?”
For a man like Aaron, genuine feelings were rare.
If he hadn’t fallen for her, then fine.

But if he had…
That could be disastrous.
For Stella, it might become an absolute nightmare.
“That’s probably why Felix told you to contact your father.”
At this point, Stella no longer trusted anyone.
But surely she could trust her own father at least a little.
Stella fell silent.
Her father?
She let out a quiet sigh.
“Do you really think my father had no idea what Aaron was doing to me back in Eirden?”
Remi went silent.
That question killed the argument immediately.
After a moment, she muttered,
“Looks like Felix is the only one who’s really willing to stand in front of you now.”
Stella might not have thought much of Felix lately.
But there was no denying one thing.
Right now, he was the only person actively stepping into the danger for her.
Evan was extremely difficult to deal with.
Felix going back to Harbor City had undoubtedly drawn Evan’s attention away from Stella.
But Yara was still right beside Aaron.
At the mention of Felix, Stella said nothing.
She simply turned over in bed.
Just then, Remi’s phone buzzed.
She picked it up and glanced at the screen.
The moment she read the message, her eyes widened in the darkness.
“Your brother’s people are probably going to reach Sima Mountain soon.”
Stella’s heart jumped.
“That fast?”

“They’re already searching in this direction.”
Stella fell silent.
Of course.
Once the first crack appeared, it became much easier for everyone else to follow the trail.
When Aaron hadn’t known she was alive, Sima Mountain had been peaceful.
But now that he knew…
Even this beautiful place was about to lose its peace.
Remi looked at her.
“So? Have you decided?”
Would Stella leave with her?
Or go back to the Hogarth family?
Stella remained silent for a long time.
Then finally, she asked,
“Why are you helping me?”
That was what she had wanted to know all along.
At first, Remi had claimed she came here because of Felix.
But later, Stella had realized Felix was probably nothing more than an excuse.
She had even suspected Remi had come to Sima Mountain as part of some much bigger plan.
