Chapter 1158
After all, Jennifer was the woman Leon genuinely wanted to marry.
Jennifer looked at Monique.
“So?”
“Then name your price,” Monique said through clenched teeth. “What will it take for you to leave Harbor City?”
That damn woman never should’ve come back.
If Jennifer had stayed away, there would’ve been no one interfering between Monique and Leon.
Monique would’ve had plenty of time to win Leon back.
She wouldn’t have been forced into this situation, where even marrying him now felt like something the family had to pressure him into.
And if they married under circumstances like this, it would take her forever just to repair her relationship with him.
All because of Jennifer.
Hearing Monique tell her to name a price , Jennifer laughed.
“I don’t think you understand the situation.”
Monique’s expression stiffened.
“Do you know how I ended up back in Harbor City?” Jennifer asked. “Leon found me and brought me back.”
She hadn’t returned willingly.
Did Monique seriously think Jennifer was desperate to come back here?
Or that there was anything in Harbor City she couldn’t bear to leave behind?
“Leon personally went looking for me and brought me back,” Jennifer continued. “If you want me gone , you should be talking to him ‘
Monique fell silent.
The victorious confidence she had walked in with shattered instantly.
Monique had seen how much effort Leon nad put mo mang net.
She genuinely couldn’t understand it.
What did he even see in Jennifer?
She had no family background to speak of.
And she wasn’t some breathtaking beauty either.
So why was Leon so obsessed with her?
Jennifer looked at her calmly.
“You shouldn’t have come to see me today. If you’re trying to repair things with Leon , coming after me will only make him angrier with you.”
Monique’s face darkened at the mention of angering Leon again.
She had already been exhausting herself trying to repair their relationship.
She had done everything she could think of.
And none of it had worked.
She had never seen Leon this stubborn before.
And somehow , all that stubbornness was because of Jennifer.
Monique’s jaw tightened.
“You think I wanted to come here? If you weren’t such a shameless…”
“You’re the shameless one.”
Jennifer cut her off before she could finish.
Her voice was so sharp that the room instantly fell silent.
Monique glared at her as though she wanted to tear her apart.
Jennifer met her gaze without flinching.
“You’re the one with no shame
Jennifer had never been the type to stand there and let someone insult her to her face.
Monique wanted to call her shameless?
Fine.
Then they could talk about who really deserved that word.
“When Leon and I got together, you were his buddy.”
Jennifer deliberately stressed the word ‘buddy‘.
Leon had been dating Jennifer.
What did any of that have to do with his so –called buddy?
So of all people, Monique had no right to call Jennifer shameless.
Monique’s chest rose and fell with fury.
She had seriously underestimated Jennifer.
This woman was far sharper than she had expected.
And if she was this quick with her words, she was probably just as calculating.
No wonder Leon had fallen so hard for her.
“No one in the Redson family accepts you,” Monique snapped. “None of his elders want you around, and you still insist on staying with Leon. If that isn’t shameless, what is?”
Jennifer gave a mocking smile.
“The Redson family may like you.”
She leaned back slightly.
“But the one who refuses to marry you is Leon himself.”
Monique’s face went white.
Jennifer’s smile sharpened.
“So tell me, what good is all that supposed ‘selt – respect‘ doing you?”
