Chapter 1235
[ 599 words ]
“Felix.”
“Why can’t you let him go?”
Before Stella could finish, Felix cut her off coldly.
“Have you forgotten what he did to you because of Summer? Because of the Wright family?”
Stella fell silent.
Forgotten?
How could she possibly forget?
“I haven’t forgotten.”
“Then why are you going back?”
The tension between them grew colder by the second.
Stella looked at him.
“One of us has to die.”
Felix froze.
One of them?
“Don’t you see?” Stella said quietly. “Evan and I still ended up at the point where it’s either him or me.’
It didn’t matter how many obstacles they had once overcome to be together.
It didn’t matter how fiercely Evan had once loved her.
Now, they had reached the point where one of them had to die.
Only when one of them was truly gone would all of this finally end.
Felix stared at her.
“Him or you?”
“Yes. After everything that’s happened, I think one of us has to die.”
Only then would all the hatred and resentment between them finally stop.
Felix said nothing.
But his heart was pounding.
His clenched fists slowly loosened.
“Then who do you think should die?”
His posture had relaxed slightly, but the question still came through clenched teeth.
Stella fell silent.
Who should die?
That was the question.
When she didn’t answer, the brief relief Felix had felt vanished instantly.
He strode toward her and grabbed both her shoulders.
“Don’t tell me you’re planning to give him your life.”
That was exactly what she was thinking, wasn’t it?
All this time Stella had been beside him, she had carried a bone-deep exhaustion that never seemed to leave.
She was tired.
Being with him seemed to exhaust her.
A terrible feeling rose in Felix’s chest.
His grip on her shoulders tightened.
“You’re not seriously thinking of…”
The rest of the sentence died in his throat.
Especially when he looked into her tired eyes.
Only then did Felix realize something.
Back in Harbor City, Stella had once been so vibrant.
So full of life.
But now…
That light in her eyes was gone.
When had it disappeared?
Had it started when she returned to Eirden?
And somewhere along the way, had it simply gone out completely?
Felix’s chest tightened painfully.
“You’re planning to give him your life.”
This time, it wasn’t a question.
She had thought about it.
2/4
He was sure of it.
She had been so tired all this time.
She wanted out of everything.
Looking at the emptiness and exhaustion in her eyes, Felix tightened hi
Pain ripped through his chest as though his heart were bleeding.
This wasn’t what he had wanted.
He had wanted her to be happy.
He had wanted her to spend the rest of her life in the peace she had always
But now…
How had everything ended up like this?
He had thought time would fix things.
He had thought that if he gave her enough time, she would eventually let go of
That little by little, she would accept him.
And then they could spend the rest of their lives together.
But now…
He realized time hadn’t healed anything.
If anything, staying beside him had only made Stella emptier.
“Stella…”
How had she become like this?
He had tried so hard these past few months.
So why had it still ended this way?
She had actually reached the point where she was willing to give Evan her life.
She was even prepared to give up the peace she had fought so desperately for.
She could have disappeared somewhere else.
Found some place where no one knew her.
But now she didn’t even want that anymore.
Faced with Evan’s hatred, Stella had given up on herself too.
So all this time she had been beside Felix…
