Chapter 147
Perry would ask Ariel if she had managed to get in touch with that doctor from time to time. Ariel told him frankly about the situation she had encountered.
Perry responded, “That person hardly ever uses his phone. He’s often in remote areas overseas, where there is no signal or internet connection. He didn’t mean to ignore your messages.
After seeing Perry’s explanation, Ariel could not possibly try to prompt any one of them for a quicker response.
After all, Perry was not obligated to help Ariel in the first place.
Ariel was certain the doctor Perry had recommended to her must be a first–rate expert. However, she could not possibly just wait and do nothing while they still could not reach that person.
She needed to prepare an alternative plan.
During her days off, Ariel focused on finding out which experts would return to their country for work after the federal holiday was over. She used every connection she had to gather information about that.
As for Jayson, neither he nor Ariel had tried to contact the other person. Ariel was so preoccupied with her search for competent experts that she did not have the time to think about their issues.
At an equestrian club, Nancy went around the field on a horse for a while and dismounted.
Sitting somewhere in the distance, Matt immediately clapped and praised her. “You’re brilliant! With those skills, you can even consider joining some competitions for professionals. You looked really cool!”
Renee, who was following Jayson around, stared at Nancy with admiration. “Is there anything you can’t do, Nancy? You’re smart, and you’re good at so many things. A genius must be someone like you!”
“See! Even Renee has become your fan now,” Matt said jokingly.
He directed his gaze to Freya, who was playing mobile games at the side. “Freya, do you not want to learn horse riding? Nancy can teach you how to.”
Freya was the only person there who had not learned to ride a horse.
Perry turned his eyes toward her. “Do you want to give it a try?”
Freya lifted her gaze and shook her head. “It’s alright. I’m going to play games with my pretty friend instead.”
Nancy’s smile faltered slightly. “Your pretty friend?”
Perry knew right away that the person Freya was talking about was Ariel.
Freya nodded. “I’ve gotten to know this lady, who’s super pretty and good at playing games. You guys should go ahead and enjoy your time riding the horses. I’m not that interested.”
Nancy could tell Freya liked that friend a lot. On the other hand, Perry did not seem shocked or surprised to hear that. He obviously knew who Freya was referring to.
Nancy took a bottle of water placed near Perry and removed the cap. “I don’t think you’ve ever mentioned someone like that to us before?”
Jayson cast a glance in their direction as well.

Perry paused briefly while he was trying to drink some water. “It’s not really anything worth mentioning.”
It was pretty clear that he had no intention to elaborate.
Nancy frowned slightly. Then, she smiled softly. “Alright.”
She glanced at Jayson and raised her brows. Nancy issued a challenge. “Would you like to go up against me for a race, Jayson?”
Jayson’s brows arched. He had a cool, relaxed look in his eyes. “Sure.”
Matt was so excited and ready to cheer for them. “It doesn’t matter which of you wins. Most importantly, I’ll definitely take great photos of you two! Make sure to thank me afterward!”

She and Jayson headed out to the fields. Matt took his SLR camera and hurried after them. Perry did not tag along.
After playing her games for a while, Freya remembered that she had brought some snacks along. She reached into her bag and took out a box.
She cast a glance at Renee and asked politely, “Do you want some of this?”
Renee looked her way. “What?”
Freya picked up a piece and held it out to Renee. “You know Ms. Walker too. She’s the lady who went camping with us last time. She made these and gave th
to me. It’s really delicious. You should try it.”
Renee’s expression hardened. She stared at the palmiers in disbelief.
“Why would she give you these snacks?”
Freya gazed at Renee with a puzzled look on her face. “It’s because she likes me, of course. She made these specially for me.”
“That’s absolute nonsense!” Renee shot to her feet. She was positively fuming. “Why would she make those for you?”
She had softened her tone and asked Ariel to make desserts for her the night before the federal holiday, but Ariel completely ignored her.
Ariel used to be willing to do anything for her. Renee could not understand why Ariel was being friendly to Freya now instead.
She had decided to ignore Ariel since the latter did not reply to any of her messages. Renee did not want Ariel to feel too pleased with herself.
Yet, Ariel refused her requests and made the desserts for Freya instead.
Freya looked at Renee in confusion. “What’s the matter?”
She could not understand why Renee was suddenly so upset.
Renee clenched her jaw. Without saying anything, she turned around and left.
Ariel had completely gotten on her wrong side. Renee decided to give Ariel the cold shoulder from now on.

Perry was not entirely sure what the young lady was thinking, but he had an inkling of why Renee acted this way.
No one among their circle of friends had ever mentioned the fact that Ariel was Jayson’s wife. Even Renee had never openly acknowledged Ariel as her sister–in–law. That was why Freya had absolutely no idea that Ariel and Jayson were in that kind of relationship.
Perry patted Freya on the shoulder. “Can I have a piece?”
